Hi all:

I am a newcomer to the site but not new to the idea and practise of preparedness. I am of mature years and in the past have done a fair amount of what I might call low level prepredness and survival including organic garden, food storage, survival kits, and a lot of reading. More recently I am trying to get into hunting and field dressing of wild game. My skills are not advanced (in my estimation) but my interest is strong. Means are limited but with single status I can at least can move around. I enjoy reading survival fiction and I have some writing skills as well.

Some things I am interested in are:

1/ Preparing a list of survival things a person can do that are “small and cheap” – by that I mean small as in takes little time and is relatively easy and of course cheap means cost is negligible. I believe a list like this can be helpful to those preppers who have very limited means but want to do “something” and to those more advanced who have days when they just want to fine tune and do a number of quick and easy things. I think a list like this could be useful and might surprise us what comes up.

2/ Someone on this forum (ICRCC I think) expressed an interest in some kind of a ‘scale’ of preparedness. This is something I am interested in and have done some work on as a possible publication.

3/ Lower mainland traffic / gridlock nightmare. I drive for a living and this is real and deserves to be held in mind by anyone in the lower mainland. I am located in the east end of the Fraser Valley.

Looking forward to communicating.

Safehaven.

hi safehaven,
welcome , you will find lots of good info on this site, in the event of a major crisis traffic getting out of the city will be a nightmare for sure. it would seem to me that you have an advantage as you live outside the GVRD which means that you could potentially get out ahead of the masses. glad to have you on here, i look forward to hearing your input on different topics.
