The way Canada usually plays with law is they have to show intent.

Intent should (note I'm using the word 'should', because sadly that's not the case sometimes 😆 ) not be a factor at all, when the letter of the law clearly states that it is legal to do so. Like I quoted in my last post, directly from the RCMP bulletin link:

The maximum permitted capacity of a magazine is determined by the kind of firearm it is designed or manufactured for use in and not the kind of firearm it might actually be used in. As a consequence, the maximum permitted capacity remains the same regardless of which firearm it might be used in.

Just two sentences below that, it even specifically uses the LAR-15 mags (10-round capacity) as an example of something that is perfectly legal to be used in a rifle that can use it.

The officer was entirely, 100%, completely wrong. However, it doesn't take away from the headache, hassle and inconvenience to the legal and law abiding firearms user.

I like the suggestion to print the ruling and I'd keep it in the guncase along too as you know you'll need it sooner or later.

I agree with this suggestion, too. Everything in my cabinet is 100% legal, and yet I'm certain that a few specific ones can get confiscated by officers who are poorly versed in firearms laws. Hence, I always keep printouts of the rulings AND the relevant FRT documents on top of each item. You cannot even pick up anything in my cabinet without first moving aside the relevant legal documents. I may be paranoid, but too many law-abiding Canadians are hassled, and it is not worth the headache.

What the OPP did up here for a while was wait until your PAL expired and then confiscate your weapons due to lack of proper paperwork. Alot of guns got lost in the system and this was due to them shipping them off immediately to some other location. I knew a few who professed they'd sue( but never did) and never got the weapons back either. Weapons were also being confiscated for minor neighbour disagreements from what the gossipers claimed. Anyways, the OPP Sargent was finally replaced and all the crap stopped. Popular fella he was and seems he was caught with another man's wife and therefore shipped off! 🙄 just more town gossip but he is indeed gone after 8 years of pissing off the public. 😀

Yet from what the RCMP did to High River, it makes me wonder what they are really up to. When in the MP trade in the 70's, we were told that we were the most powerful police officer in Canada. This was due to Canada having never officially ended the state of martial law which was imposed during WWII. We were also told that we'd better not be the officer who screwed that up and had these privileges revoked. This allowed us to search homes and vehicles without search warrants. I think it is still this way today too. Most folks are unaware of this as our military doesn't abuse this privilege and thus it remains intact. Seems the RCMP wish to have far more as they now share all with Homeland Security other allies these days. This is why I suggest many to tread softly and not give such reason to flex their unused muscles. 😕

I cant say a lot Knuckle as my friend is trying to get compensation.....but he lost a Sig 226, two bull barrel mark2's with custom coco bolo carved grips, a jennings .22 (we called it the water bed killer, a striker fired pos) all destroyed, it looks like he may get cash compensation...they can do anything thing they want, and get away with it. I lost a paratrper model (detachable wooden but stock) 9mm uzi (semi auto, and legal) back in 88 or so, demanded to be charged, or have it returned...didnt have the funds to fight it.
I got a sling shot now...lets see them find it.

Obama is pushing to ban AR 15 ammo..this should be interesting.
Sometimes I wonder if they announce these things to make people rush in and by ammo and rake in the tax revenues?
They did pretty good on people hoarding ammo in the last couple of years in Canada and the U.S.
Now the supplies are up again at least on .22 and now they want to ban .223

Just to clarify, the 5.56 ammo being contentious is the XM855 with steel penetrator tip. This ammo being deemed "armour piercing" and can be shot by a pistol (if you call a stock less, 10" barrelled AR15 a pistol....), hence why it would be illegal. Remaineder of .223/5.56 ammo, including the Russian/Ukranian stuff that you can buy by the case, should remain available without issue.

I'll believe it when I see it. I've seen the same things over the last few days. Isn't it just the ARMOUR PIERCING projectiles they are targeting?

I have also seen that many of the States are now making laws promoting concealed and open carry, as well as making it a felony for government officials of the federal type, to try to arrest anyone exercising their 2nd amendment rights.

Remember all the laws that were supposed to be going through, making it mandatory to micro etch the firing pins? (UN agenda) or those electric guns that would only fire if you used your implanted RFID tags? Or how about Remington's financial downturn due to the 700 series trigger issues? They still managed to buy Bushmaster, and now Para. Almost bankrupt companies don't make purchases like that if they have no money.

Ummmm... Sure enough, my "regular" ammo supplier since I've arrived in the USA is all out of XM855. Probably people like me that have never shot it but are curious before the "ban" comes snatched it all. It wasn't really affordable ammo, so I never bought any, but thought about getting 100 or so just to try. No luck getting any now. If it is a marketing scheme, it worked!

I always advise keeping a stock of ammunition handy, I usually keep about 2000 rounds of M855 on hand and another 600 or so for practice.

M855 is not an Armour Piercing round, it is an improved barrier breaching round originally designed for use in Squad level support weapons. The actual AP round is the M995 using a tungsten core. To this end, I believe that the BATFE ban on M855 stands on shaky ground at best. I'll be surprised if it holds up in court.

If Obama has his way, he is pushing to have .223 ammo banned.
AR15 ammo I guess is what's under fire here.

BATF's definition of AP is wonky. They refer to the russian surplus 7.62 we all buy by the case as AP as well because it is steel core. Rubbish...

Reloading an option?
Buy all the raw materials now in anticipation of further shortages...

What? Even Lebaron is out? They were always my 'go-to' people when I lived near the big smoke.
