Just spent the last week in the Seattle area visiting various Sports and Gun shops (Sportsman's Warehouse, Cabelas, Big 5, Dicks Sporting Goods and a slew of gun shops). These massive stores were basically empty, except at the hunting section, where you had to "take a number" and wait 1/2 hour. My main reason for coming down here was to acquire some of the Ruger 10 shot rotary magazines. Couldn't find them anywhere. Besides that, all of these stores were sold out of .22 ammo. Signs were everywhere stating that people could only purchase a max of 100 rounds, that's right, 100 rounds of .22 cal ammo max per person, when they can get it in. No Ruger 10/22's available either. According to several store clerks, the Ruger 10/22 may be on the next round of banned guns due to the semi-auto features. That is if they ever get to the first round of banned guns. Never-the-less, people here are scrambling to pick up any model of the 10/22. Actual ammo prices for .22 cal were also much more expensive than I thought. A few of the stores quoted me a whopping $50 - $75 USD for a box of Federal 525 bulk before the 100 round max was implemented. Yikes! I think I paid $24.00 at Canadian Tire a few weeks ago. Time to stock up when I get back.
Bulk .22 ammo can be hard to find even in Canada. Prices are definitely creeping up. Saw some lead .22 ammo at Can. Tire for 9.00 / 100 rounds. Winchester Dynapoint GT used to be 23.00 at Can Tire. Now it's 30.00. Centre fire ammo is holding steady.

Took a road trip and ended up in a Vernon gun shop yesterday. Boxes and boxes of 22 available. Blazer 500 rnds for $22.95. Federal Champion 525 rnds for $23.95. Excellent little store with huge inventory. Friendly staff. Also had Ruger 10 rnd rotary mags available (one per customer only on the mags).
