There is a wicked ice storm happening which may affect half the population of Canada. I keep getting Environment Canada weather warnings on my phone every couple of hours.
I hope everyone in the path of the storm is ready - predicted 'widespread power outages' . From Windsor, Ontario to the Maritimes.
Keep in touch and let us know when your back online what your experience was.
Batten down the hatches! 😉

So far just lots of snow and wind.
I think everyone in eastern Canada still cringes upon hearing the words "freezing rain".
Anyways, hatches are battened and we are ready...just gotta dig out the path to the generator again!

In Southern part of Ontario, our power has been out since yesterday.
I'm doing fine, I'm one of those "preppers" my family calls crazy,
Until times like these. I live with my parents and they are starting to worry about the power being out, heck, being from Newfoundland we should be used to this stuff. They are panicking, and I'm cool, how's everyone else?

Wrote this from my iPhone.

Presently here in Northern New Brunswick.

The ice storm seems to be concentrated further south across the Bay of Fundy and Nova Scotia. All power is on in this region, though traffic is being slowed by heavy snow.

When bad men combine, the good must associate; else they will fail, one by one, an unpitied sacrifice in a contemptible struggle.

Almost 3 days without power and landline.
OK now,'''' saved most of the fridge/freezer contents, and didnt have any waterline freezes. It was close though, since i have a few outer additions with non-glycol water-rads to keep above freezing while neighbors were even colder.
I made a short-circuit while switching the genny cord in the dark , to the hard-wire connection in the basement, and blew the transformer. Replaced this morning and now running. Definitely going to rearrange a plug 'n play setup for next time...
Can't wait to move north, geothermal, superinsulated, etc......

Glad everything worked out in the end. I can't agree more with the "Can't wait to move north, geothermal, superinsulated, etc..." I was thinking the same thing during the storm.
