Hey everyone out there.. I'm currently looking to add whole powdered eggs to my preps. Apparently it can last 5-10 years? I love eggs and figure why not? A good source of protein too. Can't seem to source any out locally here where I live though. Any suggestions?
Also I am not looking for egg substitute or egg white. Thanx. 🙂

Well, where do you live?
Be aware that they contain oxidized cholesterol, the worst kind.

Blackknight88, let me know if you find out where to get this. It's a very good source of fat and protein, stores for a very long time, and is easy to prepare.

In a SHTF scenario, a marginal increase in LDL cholesterol will be the least of my worries. 😉

Well it hasn't wrecked powdered eggs for me - they are a decent substitute for fresh eggs. True if that was all I ate I might have to re-think using them, but given I only use a little and only once them in a while, I am more than willing to take that chance. I total agree with RT survive that in a true SHTF scenario, cholesterol will not be high on the list of concerns.

I have never been able to find powdered eggs in Canada (and I have done a fair bit of searching). I usually buy from Canadian distributors but they have it shipped it in from the States.

The wife and I have experimented dehydrating precooked eggs. I had read about both precooking and not but chose to precook as salmonella poisoning is not way up on my list if things to have. Others pre-make about anything and you can buy about 70 eggs dehydrated for $40 last I saw at Cabela's about 6 years back. I just pulled out the catalague and couldn't find it there though. We did about 2 dozen and vacuum seal it like many other things. I take a taste and study how various things keep every few months. Our eggs don't recover when rehydrated as well as those prebought, but I still seem to be breathing just the same after tasting some a year on the shelf. I would first try to perfect this more before opting to dehydrate your own in quantity. It's fun to experiment though!

I will RT..
I live in Nanaimo perfesser.

You had my hopes up there Knuckle. There is a Cabela's opening in a month or so here in town. I will keep looking. I am in agreement about the cholesterol. No point worrying about it too much. Kids would be ok eating it. Just have to watch the intake amount being an old fart and all. 😆

Thrive has powdered eggs if you can find a dealer nearby. I got a #10 can a few years back.
I ignore what the establishment says about cholesterol and dietary fat in general, they're just plain wrong.
This is a long video but will really open your eyes to the whole situation.

So here it is folks.. Don't get caught up buying it from Amazon.com as it is more money. Just go to the link here below and go strait to the source. The cost is only 14.99 for 1 lb which is 40 eggs. Works out to 3.75 a dozen before shipping. There are other products offered as well such as powdered milk, powdered butter and powdered cheese. These products range from 11.99 to 12.99 a lb. Enjoy!! 🙂

For those in Toronto, I found a PDF for the other goodies that Grain Process sells. It's from 2011/2012, so it might be a bit outdated, but it looks like they sell a ton of stuff in bulk. They aren't prepper specific, but that's never stopped us before.
