I am making a few of these tonight to seal and wait to use... I will try them at one month intervals but, if sealed properly in mylar bags I think they should easily last a couple of years.

Homemade hamburger helper recipes. Just make the sauce and pasta mixes... seal into bags and then I am putting the bags with recipe in another sealed bag. Then popping the bags into my rubbermaid containers and stacking in the closet (keeps any critters or bugs out).
I like to find and try things like these to use as, I usually have the ingredients on hand and since I live on a limited budget (about to get tighter due to a move) I can still prep and have something unique for a fraction of the prepped food cost.

EXCELLENT link....thank you SO much... curious if you think a vacuum sealer would work for this... for the sauce mix and the pasta/rice? Thoughts...

You bet! I ALWAYS use my food saver. Hell, I would seal my house if I could LOL I go through 2-3 rolls a month (I use the Rivel brand as I find they are better than the foodsaver bags, a fraction of the cost and very durable).

Thanks so much and thanks for the tip about the bags. Thought you had to use their brand for it to work... DUH!!!! LMAO

No worries. I thought that too, once upon a time. The companies word their instructions so that you start to think if you use another brand the machine will F-Up. But, they don't.
I am a cheap person. Why spend $27 for the almost exact same roll of bags you can buy for $13? And I have found that the cheaper ones (at the ever dreaded WalMart anyways) are better.

Thank you for posting that.

I have been looking on line for meals just like that - you put every thing in a jar or bag, just add water to and have a meal in 20 minutes.
It is nice to have a review.

I have found a number of sites, but haven't tried them yet. 🙄

I have 12 sites pinned on my pinterest. I've checked them all out before I pinned them, so I know they lead to recipes and aren't spam.

I've been dehydrating like mad so that I will have 'instant beans' onions and the like for the recipes. I made some soup mixes, but have yet to try one. I better get in gear if I want to start putting some quantities away.

Thanks bluegrrl - I am now a follower 🙂

I've been trying to find recipes like this to store in Mylar and buckets - the idea being that everything would be in one bucket to make soup for 100 people at a time. These recipes will certainly help!

A 100 people at a time?

I have old recipes from my grandmothers church group to feed 250 at a time. Mind you it's all with fresh food.

I live outside of a tiny community and I have access to the local church - the only large building in the town except a few houses. I can see setting it up as a soup kitchen for those in need if things got really bad - one pail could be the ingredients for a meal of soup for many. Using the idea of stone soup we could even stretch the soup farther. This is my community minded prepping idea - it has a few flaws - like what will I say when I show up with the soup mix? I found it on the side of the road? 🙂 It's not a perfect plan but it's all I've got so far. First I have to make the pails up!

It might seem like an excessive amount of work, but try making the packets in 5 person servings. These, then you could put into Mylar bulk pack and don’t forget the OA's. Rule of thumb, "if your going to store it, make sure your going to enjoy it" Otherwise it will stay on the shelf forever. In other words, try it first. 😉
