Ahhhh yes, I have decided that fuzzy socks and pretty bath sets are a thing of the past. This year is my year to begin PRACTICAL gift giving.
I have a long list of friends and fam who are oblivious to the real dangers of the world. They just do not want to think about the negative. I don't obsess over it but, I have learned from my past and the world's history enough to know you can never be too prepared.
So, I started "Prep Boxes" for my friend's b-days. 4 friends in May, one in June and a couple in July and August.
Each box contains...
1 emergency crank light (it has 3 LED settings, a night light, a bug repeller, radio, battery free and a siren. Plus, you can charge a cell phone with it if need be!)
3 boxes of Cup A Soup
10 Ramen Noodle packs
4 packages of the homemade hamburger helper the link I posted a week ago.... I have made a couple batches.
4 - 8 hour pillar candles
2 wind proof lighters
2 cans of beans in tomato sauce
2 cans of fruit cocktail
1 hand held can opener
small first aid kit
50 pack of various band aids
Alcohol swab pads
beef jerky
tang juice
small retractable knife with keychain
small LED flashlight
3 cans of tuna
3 cans of chunky soup
1 water bottle with charcoal filters (3 per bottle attached)
An instruction book about how not to panic and think smart I.C.E.!
1 small pack of baby wipes
1 pair of wool socks
(not fuzzy but practical)

I got the majority of the stuff for less than a dollar each. The Biggest expenses were the Emergency light and then the small first aid kit.
Well, whatcha think? Any other ideas (cheap please) to make these better? I am trying to keep the costs as low as I can and this would be something that if I was them I would appreciate getting.

Get idea. I have always given home made canned goods and dried goods and "gifts in a jar". Some really look forward to it I think this year I may follow your lead.

I can't think of anything else to add. Good job

1) I think your list is great, and love the idea!
2) No!!!! Fuzzy Socks are good, no they are GREAT!! I love my fuzzy socks, just don't get them the cheap ones, watch for sales and get the amazing Mark's fuzzy hot socks, they are thick, so soft on your feet after a hard day and they are SO warm, (could be used as extra warm mights in a pinch)..

The fuzzy socks were a trend I wasn't too into but ended up getting a dozen pairs for Christmas one year. :/
And I can't wear them in my boots without them slipping off as I walk around. 🙁

I find the fuzzy socks make great bed socks...they keep my feet warm without making them sweat.

I hear you, I got a couple pairs of cheap fuzzy socks and they do the same thing but the good ones (that are not cheap at Marks) don't slip or slid around, and they are amazing at keeping your feet warm, they also wash down in size each time, which is awesome.. I love my hot socks!

@Farmgal... I am gonna try those ones out thanks!

@Dandyprat... great idea as well! Everyone needs to be somewhat prepped!

A friend's son is getting married this summer and she asked me to write them a book of my info. I said "If I do that I might as well just write a book and sell it." She looked at me and smiled and said "Ok I'll buy it!" Now my wheels are turning.... Hmmmmm maybe? lol
