Today? Nothing, birthday lol. This week I picked up a white gas Coleman lantern, white gas Coleman stove, extra wicks for my Kero lantern, another 6gallon water jug (needs filling), continued work on my survival kits, almost done! Rebuilding some edc type stuff after the jeep was broken into. Went fishing (gotta keep them skills sharp lol). I think that's it, got more jerky curing in the fridge gotta get it on the dehydrator.

Happy birthday 🙂

I purchased a vacuuming sealing machine from Costco and we are installing a rain tank outside.

I hit some yard sales yesterday and found a Lodge Logic Dutch Oven with a lid for $5.00. Brand new 🙂 Picked up 4 or 5 dozen canning jars and the plastic storage lids and an old Singer sewing machine in a case to be converted to foot power if necessary.

I hit the sales at Freshco too - for rice, split peas and red lentils. I'm trying to buy all I need during this sale so I will finish up a year's worth of those two items. I still need to make one more trip because I didn't think they would appreciate my breaking the cart with the weight! ha ha!

I want to go back for more coconut milk....cheaper than evaporated and I can use it in baking in place of milk in a lot of things.

I'm the lady you're stuck behind in the grocery store with the over loaded cart filled with cases of tuna, peanut butter, huge bags of rice and the weary looking husband

red lentils - 8lb bags x 6 $2.97 each
rice - 8kg bags x 4 $4.87 each
yellow split peas - 8lb bag x 2 $2.97 each
tp - 15 double rolls x 5 $4.88 each

pissed off - last time I bought bleach it was regular price 99 cents now its $2.49 for 5l ggggggrrrrr

Last time I bought rice was at $7.99 for 8kg.
Good deal on the TP...we usually pay about $0.17 per roll.
Oh well, I have my year supply of rice right now.

I just went to town to pick up duck and chicken feed. There was a large sign up and the guy at the store said that because of poor harvests the price of grain was about to take a significant jump. He was urging anyone who had suitable storage space to stock up now at today's prices. I don't think this was a sales pitch. So I picked up an extra 6 months supply.

I was wondering if this is just my neck of the wood or all across Ontario?

We didn't get the notice that they were going up, we just got the higher prices, when we picked up our non-medicated chick starter, it had jumped 5 dollars a bag since our last one.. The price of other basic's is going up as well..

I talked to a local farmer, and I will be buying direct from him, even with the higher prices, I can pay him more then they would, and still save about 40 plus percent by getting it local and from him, that is if his crops come in to do so?

Hay is already going up around here as well, but its straw that when even higher then I have ever seen it..

I have a grainary upstairs in the barn. The farmer that was renting our barn used it last year but the raccoons ate so much of it I'm thinking there will be some work to do first...it would sure be nice to have a 6 month supply and save trips going back and forth to the coop too. Another project for the list! Thanks for the heads up!

Checked and repacked my GHB in the car...food and batteries still good to 2013 and beyond!
Moved my rain barrel due to the construction project and set up a drip irrigation pipe to my beans and peas!
Cleared a spot in the crawlspace under the house for a potato bin for winter storage (low temp and dirt floor with good humidity)
Tidied up the yard in anticipation of thunderstorms...we are on a severe thunderstorm watch into late tonight.

Lots of lightning and thunder...a bit of rain and no damage. A couple power outages for less than a minute each and one for about a half hour. Quite the light show though.
