Nearly rounded out this batch of tumbling compost. (I only add new stuff for the fist week or so on a new batch) Cut a bit of firewood. Picked up some solar panel mounting rails for the RE shack, sourced security bolts for panel mounts. Put about about 25 lbs of goods into the food cupboard. Did a whack of reading/videos to improve the quality of life post SHTF. Joined this message board.

Pasta was at Metro.
Soup was at Sobeys.

What I did, to save the gas money, is I went to No Frills (where I usually go) and they price-matched everything.

Checked & repacked my BOB and EDC.
Had to change out some clothing & put in my revamped home made MRE's...now with more calories!
Started a BOB for the kids...diapers take up a lot of room!
I made a list of a few items for the kid's kit to pick up, but it will do OK as is.

I put a new roof on my house! I know it doesn't sound like disaster preparedness but one of the first rules of survival is shelter, and I know we will be staying dry for years to come.

Hundreds, maybe even a thousand of those little candy bars everyone gives out to trick or treaters.
Got them 50% off at Walmart on Nov.1.
Now we have treats for the kids (and grown ups)for a while.
Nothing says comfort during a disaster like a mouthful of chocolate!

Not a prep, doesn't count! True preps should stay in storage. I tried that a couple of years ago but I found that chocolate "evaporates" very quickly. I tried storing rum too. That did not work either.

Haven't you ever heard of "store what you eat and eat what you store"?
Well....I'm eating it!

True Denob, so true. Did you hit the Nov 1st sales? Hubs and I did, cleaned out a few shelves lol.
and I have to say - yes - the choc will get ganky after a year(I'm surprised I had any lurking around that long)
BUT the candy...that crud lasts for two years before it starts to mush...(no one eats the hard candy so it sits there...I actually have to throw it away if I can't pawn it off on guests!!)
my kids always make out like bandits on Halloween...
