I finished purchasing my 6 month supply of pasta - it's been on sale this week and last. This week at Freshco it's on sale for .77 for 900gr. 900 gr. is approx 2 pounds. It takes 21lbs of macaroni to fill a bucket so that's 11 packages. 11 x .77c = $8.47 per bucket. O2 absorbors and mylar liner take the cost up to approx. $10.00 in total if you can get a free bucket. Not a bad deal.

Condensed Soup - 18 cans (3/.99)
Canned Cocktail shrimp - 5 (.99)
Cat food - 6.6kg (7.99)
Various other food items that will last in storage.
Most importantly, I had a long discussion with DW about who will be coming, how we will get them here, how long we can support us all, and what each person would be expected to do to help out.
We also identified that our next prep purchase would be more fuel for the generator.

Ordered 2 more cord of wood.
Listened to several podcasts such as The Covert Prepper, The Survival Podcast, Doom & Bloom Hour, etc.
Put winter tires on 1 vehicle and ordered new winter tires for the other...does that count as a prep?
Tightened up the energy conservation around the house with regards to hot water use and lighting.
Double checked and recharged all rechargeable batteries

A little rough around the edges, but with a bit of work will be running soon, and a long term project overall.
Figured it was time to get a dedicated BOV.

24, triple pane, copper coated, 3X5ft. windows. Five of them are going into the shop I'm building this spring and the rest, I'll split the panes apart. Should make for a nice little greenhouse and a solar heater for the pumphouse. Also, an SKS with 700 rounds of ammo.

Just bought a military surplus back pack, and in the process of putting it in proper shape. Just a wire back frame, but the pack is good. In the process of cleaning and disinfecting it right now. Will restring and put some new straps and buckles on it latter. Got it at Forest City surplus, told them that it was rigged wrong, they told me that it was rigged proper. I bet the manager $20 that I could prove it. He wouldn't take me up on the bet. The harness was on up side down on this one, and the rest. So if you buy a used back pack, don't rely on whoever to have it together right. Strip it down, clean it, water proof it, and repair it.

Picked up some more lamp oil, kerosene, long matches to reach the wick and some spare wick.

Also had an order of staples arrive for my brand new stapler. Was able to find the stapler at wholesale sports a few weeks ago but had to order the 7.62 staples from Wolverine supplies in Manitoba... shipping costs a bitch even the cheapest canpar option but it did show up within 10 days. I ordered two boxes since the shipping was going to be horrendous anyways and it seems alot of people are out of that particular size of staple. 😎

Hope the weather breaks soon so we can try it out.

Here's a place in Calgary that usually stocks a few different sizes of staples.
