This week our local Co-op Hardware store announced it was closing. Yet another sign of depopulating rural North America.
I took advantage of the 25 - 50% off sale to pick up a few things: a 20L pail of kerosene for $15.00, an Earthway hand broadcast seeder for $36.00, replacement handle for my splitting maul, and some hardware for around the ol' homestead.

Planted the garden, bought a couple of flats of bottled water. Picked up another jug of Kerosene. Cleaned up the garage where lots of the stocks are stored. Took advantage of sales to pick up tomato soup and pasta.
Sorted out the truck's "go bag", removing winter clothing and swapping food and water in it with fresh stuff.
bought 5 more hand squeeze dynamo flashlights, a 8X10 ft drop sheet, few 2nd hand kitchen appliances (breadmaker, coffee machine and sandwich press), getting my preps sorted into the tubs (man i have a lot of lighting stuff), added some more multivitamins/fish oil/ibuprofen/vitamin c and 2 decongestant inhalers. dragged the winter bedding out of the cupboard (cold snap), trying to fight off an early cold.. bleh

A cup of tea with a tsp. of honey, a squeeze of lemon and a shot of rum. this is no cure for a cold but I found that its helps, and if you have more than one of these an hour...you wont care about the cold.

Yesterday I picked up a hunting/survival knife that also has a flint, two slingshots, slingshot pellets, and snare wire. Plus I got a soft shell waterproof jacket on sale for $20, regular $70. Sweet! Otherwise, because I don't have a car, I generally pick a few things up here and there, so some painkillers and more first aid supplies have been stocked, too.

All that false advertising from Tourism Australia is paying off I guess... I thought it was all white sand beaches with beautiful tanned women playing volleyball. And sheep farmers everywhere interior-ways.
Changed the gas in the generator, purchased a few "extra" packages of dried food, got 2 cases of MREs. Also, I'm almost done reading tale LDS preparedness manual. I've been keeping an eye on this forum, but things have been quiet.
