Pulled a celery plant and dehydrated the leaves...I grow them for the leaves, I don't have the patience to collar and blanch the plants as they grow 😉
Got a pint jar of lightly crushed leaves out of 1 plant. I have 5 more plants to do leaves with.

Inventoried repairs that need to be done to the house.

Actually made a meal plan that includes food that needs to be rotated our of storage.

Ordered a copy of "Rosemary Gladstar's Medicinal Herbs: A Beginner's Guide: 33 Healing Herbs to Know, Grow, and Use"
and a copy of "The Prepper's Cookbook: 365 Recipes to Turn Your Emergency Food into Nutritious, Delicious, Life-Saving Meals"

I'm the lady you're stuck behind in the grocery store with the over loaded cart filled with cases of tuna, peanut butter, huge bags of rice and the weary looking husband

Thanks for sharing my thrill at getting one.

I got the ecozoom versa. I hope to spend part of saturday playing with it using both wood and charcoal. I hadn't considered taking pictures as I went but will so now. Part of playing with it will be to use it with the shuttle chef as well.

I plan on trying to make taco shells, bake a cake or bread, steak but if you have any suggestions on other things to try, let me know.

old school, I am sure you already thought of it, but remember to slap a cast iron pan down on the ecozoom stove to act as the heat base before you put the shuttle chef pot on there, so that it does not get direct flame, heat on its bottom.. it works very well, but I personally tend to use cast iron most of the time on the zoom when I cook.

As the shuttle chef is very clear about not putting it on a open flame etc, I have heated it over the cast iron to boiling point and then into the pot on some things but as you know, you are to simmer meat for x amount of time, I bring half the broth to a boiling point and then put the pot in the shuttle chef, then put the rest of the broth and meat and veggies/rice etc in the cast iron, bring to a boil and simmer for the required time out of the book and then pour that into the shuttle chef, and close and cook the required time, so far its worked very well.

Let me know how it goes for you! and congrats on your ecozoom!

That looks cool..I had to google to see what it was

This week I dehydrated 3 jars of raspberry leaves from the garden

Pulled the red potatoed and transplanted shoots and roots in to planters

transplanted all the herbs so they can come indoors soon( they were in planters already growing on back deck I gave them bigger pots)

made 8 canning jars of laundry detergent

and went to the yard sales yesterday

I took a chance and ordered some seeds from a company in Oregon, Whatcom Seed. They advertise rare, exotic and unusual seeds.

For two years I have unsuccessfully advertised on Kijiji for a small amount of ginseng seed for fall planting. A packet from these folks is $4 and change so I ordered two for myself and one for a gift. I also ordered hops and cranberry seed.

Quiet week on the prepping front as if was family vacation time. I sort of felt guilty to not do much so this am, I pulled out our 72 hrs box and went through it, rotating food stuff and ensuring all is good to go. We don't really have BoBs, more like a couple of cars GHBs and this large bin that is more like an 'evacuation bin'. That is what we would take if the authorities came knocking at the doors in case of raging fires, floods, etc. Something to bring at a hotel or friend's place and keep going about our 'normal' life.

Got a quote & guys coming tomorrow to take care of storm damage on the roof. Lovely racoons are now living in my attic. Paying the extra to have my house raccoon proofed. Doesn't really sound like prepping, but getting a home secure from humans & critters should be part of everyone's preps - my 2 cents 🙂

Turning what is left over from last years canning into dehydrated bark. Turned 11 pints of crushed tomatoes into 1 pint of bark. Spagetti sauce is just going into the dehydrator.

Ordered a sprouting kit and seeds, kept harvesting from the garden, picked up some extra at the grocery store to add to the shelves. Maintained my fitness routine and target practiced with a slingshot and with rifle. Also did the regular maintenance on the SUV. Next week goals include refreshing my couple dozens plastic containers storing "utility" grade water.

I made cold process soap (with lye) and taught my mom and daughter. Farmgal taught me a few weeks ago but teaching someone else is the true test of knowing what you're doing 🙂
