My prep this week was a 5 acre hobby farm, right now it's about 4 acres of pasture, a small house which is perfect, a barn, workshop and some outbuildings. I'm just jumping in with both feet forward - a stack of books, this forum and youtube will help me through lol. I've almost always lived in the city, I've lived in the country before (just a house in the country) not with self sufficiency in mind. I placed my order for some pullets yesterday, may the new adventure begin 🙂
I would like to say that it has been the community on this forum that has been a big influence on my decision to make a significant life change. I have met some of you in person, so thank you for your inspiration.
Does buying a ticket in a $30 mill lotto draw count? found a coupla nice islands for sale 😉

So I gave myself a pinch and a punch for the 1st Day of the month... I said white rabbit.. but I ignored the rules and punched myself back... By the way not only am I a rule ignorer.. I hit like a girl.

Got 2 more propane tanks on sale and picked up some more heirloom seeds.
Got my 2nd Baofeng radio from China, but seems defective...transmits but won't receive.
Back to China it goes!
the purge / sort out has begun.. tore through the Mt Crapmore of stuff that had accumulated in the mirror alcove of my built in wardrobes. Found several items I had been looking for, tossed out some of the crap/rubbish.
And the kitchen cupboards are on the agenda soon.. time to cut the non useful stuff.
The new (2nd hand) bed has been delayed to unforeseen circumstances, but is coming in next 2 months for sure, but did get a new side table for between my armchairs today.
Finally I have almost all of the items for a long planned Kit Project

Denob, I can't wait to read about it.
Did a little back road driving last week...figuring out how to (and how not to) get from town to town in my region without using main roads.
I ended up in some pretty muddy dead ends, but figured out a lot of back road routes!
Just received my 2m/70cm roll up wire slim jim antenna...what an amazing gizmo!
I can't wait to do a review/demo video of this thing!
A must for every prepper with a HT!!!
Hi Denob, where did you find this, and what kind of connector does it have? I tried one an Elmer lent me,with my Baofeng, but it was no improvement over the rubber ducky. However that could be loss due to the BnC-to-sma adapter .....

It's renovation time around here!
As cottagers change out old wood frame windows for more efficient units...I go around and pick them up.
Hopefully I'll have enough to build at least a small greenhouse.
Today got me 3 windows and a door that is glass except for about 6" all around!
Went to Costco this weekend and came back with several packages of paper products. There are quite a few posts around here these days on TP alternatives, but I'll stick to stocked stuff for as long as I could before I have to switch to phone directories, sponges, rags, leaves, sticks and pine cones (in decreasing order of preference...)
Also got a great deal on strawberries so picked up a rather large quantity and processed them.
Finally, had some fun range time.
We had a tree split on us last night due to the wind, so out I went this morning with the old Homelite XL-1 to take care of it.
Being green spruce, that poor chainsaw started to bog down and smoke like crazy so off I went to the local Stihl dealer...
$240.00 later...I came home with this...MS170
Sure...only 30 cc but still...
Took care of that fallen spruce in about 15 minutes...then, being a man with a shiny new toy...went out and cut up a couple cord of firewood for the winter.
Given the price of firewood in my area, this saw will pay for itself after only 3 cord!
Phew - raised beds are rehabilitated and planted out. Actually read up on companion planting so now I know where I was going wrong.
Mini orchard planted, fenced ( damn deers) and blossoming courtesy of the mason bees.
Next we restock the quail and try again with the honey bees.
Redid all my storage to make more room for preps. Added 2 months worth of TP, and water. Also more food, and a some basic survival items, like duct tape, garbage bags, tarps, and candles.
Ordered 9 cords of firewood on Tuesday of this week. The first 3 cord truck load arrived on Wednesday. Allready for the next load and this one to be stacked , ready for winter. This load is mostly larch, no pine this year, Yay!
Part one of another garage sale weekend...
2 qt covered crock so I can try fermenting this year (I missed out on a big uncovered number 5 for $20.00 due to being too interested in too many things)
hard hat and ear muffs for added safety when felling trees
2 nice wide wedges for log splitting
asst. garden tools...someone once told me you can never have too many hoes.
a couple short pieces of heavy chain
continuing to cut firewood...if not for this year, then as a head start on next year
going to fill another dozen or so pop bottles with water
part 2 of garage sale weekend tomorrow!
