Been busy at work and working on the garden, but got myself some "fish" antibiotics. Would be awful if the fishes I don't have were to get sick and I couldn't care for them! 😉

Other than that, I'm getting ready for my return to the promised land, which may be happening earlier than intended. That means inventorying things, cleaning things and making sure that "things" that can't make it through the border find new homes before the move.

Got some extra piping for the wood stove stashed away. Never know when it might be needed if all of a sudden nothing to be had in stores.

Been busy setting up my shelves/lights for starting seeds.
When in town I got more steel shelving that was on sale. Got some odd looks from a friend about getting yet more shelving units.
Heck, ya never know when it could be needed, along with more storage bins/tubs.

Got to love sales!

More lumber to build a few more raised garden beds and to add some height to ones already there.
Now if we could just get rid of this snow........ 🙄

Started the process of rotating my fuel stash. With 7x 5Gal jugs and 5x 5L cans, I rotate the fuel about every 6 months, pouring a 5Gal and a 5L can before each tank filling. I also restock the cans with ethanol-free gas and a suitable amount of stabil.

Started my seeds for the vegetable garden this weekend. We have to drop a tree in the backyard (yay firewood!) before we can build the garden. Hoping to have it down and done by May.

Reloaded 50 shells, reserved a plot at the community garden, bulk purchase on beans, rotated a bunch of canned goods. We need to figure out what to grow at the garden. I'm thinking tomatoes, onions, some companion herbs, beans, not sure what else.

Karnit, you might want to grow some good winter keepers like potatoes too. Winter squash is nice but takes up a whole lot of room as it likes to wander.

Chicks have been hatching! A coyote got a hold of our Red Bourbon tom turkey, so I traded 5, 5 week old copper marans for a nice big tom. The girls seem to like him! I also managed to get a bulging disc in my back. Not such a good prep. We should have a hatching of turkey chicks this Thursday.

Packing to head out to our sail boat. Planning on seeing how long we can stay out and live by fishing and savaging. Need to find out where we can get fresh water. Going between main land and Vancouver Island. Also looking at property on Texada Island for possible future move.

Got a bum knee fixed! Now spending a few days couch bound and able to catch up on some reading.

This reminds me of preppers hell-bent on stashing 10 years worth of food, water and millions of bullets but refuse to tackle medical conditions, ranging from abscessed tooth to obesity. Not everything can be fixed, but IMHO, health preparedness is paramount, so every steps toward rectifying health issues is crucial. After all, what good would all that food be if you can't eat it because your mouth hurts too much or you can't shoot that suped-up tacticooled 308 because your shoulder has been in dire need of fixing for years?

Health preparedness, wealth preparedness and spiritual (psychological, whatever...) preparedness are right up with food, water and all in my book...

Purchased the book "Gaïa's Garden". Started reading it as an intro to permaculture and sustainable gardening. We purchased a property where the previous owners spent the last 7 years setting up for permaculture. I doubt that I'll be as successful my first couple of years as I'm learning, but it's good to have a foundation.

I picked up some fish antibiotics - amoxicillin and metronidazole tablets.

My potassium iodide pills arrived. Turns out they are from Israel..one of the few I could get online. I wonder if this is a special interest of theirs, due to fears of Iranian nukes?..
