Wonderful study I thought I should share. Comments?
Read it in the paper yesterday.. thought... history repeats itself.. I would point out that just because "civilization" as it was known then has collapsed, does not mean that we as a race didn't keep on moving though the times of history..

It's true, lady. You're absolutely right, and this is where long term prepping comes in handy. Folks like you and C5 have kinda woken me up to that. At first I only prepared short term, for refuge, or disaster, but I know better now. I'm learning to grow food, can it, and preserve. My efforts are minimal as I live on a rooftop, but he experience is everything.
Good for you Singlecell, learning to grow, harvest, preserve food is a skill that Ideally everyone should have to a degree.. Now I could go looking at your posts to see if this is written already but I am popping in and out..
So for what its worth, find something (anything you want) that is a basic skill that is lacking, (because of modern tec or typically advanced training) and learn that skill, work that skill as a "hobby" now..
Be it building things, be it hardware, be it leather working, or anything that you would like to learn to do now.. If you need a hint, go back a hundred years and make a list of the "household" skills that someone would have either needed or hired the expert of the village to do.. and then learn it..
If, a big if.. things go downhill, having those backup secondary skills will become extra "trade/barter/second or third small income possablity)
As an example, I am working on this year, I have ordered the seeds for growing gourds, and the tools required to be able to turn gourds into storage containers and bowls etc.. this is new to me.. I have never grown these before, never harvested these or worked them, but the idea of doing something like this for my own use appeals but so does the idea of being able to grow a bowl for use or barter..
We will see how it goes..

Ah, Shucks. Things that make me blush. I'm nowhere up to farmgals skillset, though. I wasted too many years trying to turn myself into the ultimate bad ass. Now, I am actually prepping instead of trying to play at LaMOE (Last Man On Earth). Big difference.
I have a Tactical Harness and I have a Tool Belt. The Tool Belt is more Useful.

Well in truth I'm an extremist. Ultimate badass though i try to be, I would endeavor to balance it out. And you're welcome.
