I know I've been posting a lot of these articles lately, but I think things like this need to be discussed more often on this website. Blowing smoke? Maybe... but maybe not.

I personally am more concerned about China, going on and calling for a "De-Americanized world". I have seen a "Chinese" world. They're more racist than us, cheaper, and their sheer number of masses are nauseating. Then again, Russia and China are in league when it comes to dealing with the West.

For a Russian news anchor, known for being inflammatory to mention turning the USA into radioactive dust is one thing.

For a Canadian politician to suggest that we should willfully use force against a slightly reduced superpower is just idiocy.

reducing u.s. into radioactive dust would mean world wide dust as it would spread dust all over the world , via air, water etc
killing ocean fish , crops and wheat fields etc, economic collapse in China and other places since affected / destroyed countries would no longer be importing,
and there would be no further aid and monies coming from U.S. or Canada to all those countries in need, as they've done for years.

Something that size would take out neighbors Canada , Mexico immediately also, possibly hard to control
who got affected at first, but then the dust would spread. Is there any safe place on the planet ?

Not to mention if it could trigger some natural disasters by changing the earth, even triggering the Yellowstone
volcano , earthquakes, or even an ice age , and numerous other bad things.

... and mutually assured destruction. If Russians fire missiles, American ones will be airborne before the Russian ones detonate. The End.

I concur. This is the same moron who falls asleep in veteren committee hearings and condemns Nelson Mandela. Nobody gives this guy any credibility and he'll likely be out next election.

It's the same old same old from the cold war...
If you nuke me, I'll nuke you...
One big Mexican standoff that will never lead to anything.
I remember Regan wanted to put missile destroying satelites into space as a defensive measure...
He got ridiculed because it was nick named "Star Wars", but I sometimes wonder if this wouldn't have been the way to go.

Brian Mulroney, a Conservative Prime Minister, set the record straight on this, and handed it to Margaret Thatcher and Reagan, if you're too young to remember. Told them they're on the wrong side of history, cause they were.

http://news.nationalpost.com/2013/12/05/how-brian-mulroney-spearheaded-canadian-push-to-end-apartheid-in-south-africa-and-free-nelson-mandela/

"Starting in 1985, Mulroney spearheaded an aggressive Canadian push within the Commonwealth for sanctions to pressure the white South African government to end apartheid and release Mandela from the prison where he had been locked up for a quarter century.

That put him at odds with British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, who wrote to Mulroney: “Like you, I loathe apartheid and want to see it abolished at the earliest possible moment.”

But Thatcher steadfastly opposed sanctions because she insisted they were “counterproductive.”

“I viewed apartheid with the same degree of disgust that I attached to the Nazis — the authors of the most odious offence in modern history.”

“I was resolved from the moment I became prime minister that any government I headed would speak and act in the finest traditions of Canada.”

The thing with this quote about turning America into radioactive ash and the whole Ukrainian situation that I see is this, Putin does whatever he wants because he knows we aren't ever really going to do anything to stop him. Nothing more than a slap on the wrist in the form of sanctions anyway. He will keep on going as long as the situation remains this way, He's essentially walking all over the West. Will there come a point at which we will say enough? Of course, that means war, so it's a touchy matter to say the least, and not a very good or very large selection of choices. Let Russia do what it wants or start a world war. Hmmmm.... Yikes!

they went exactly that way.....but made it ground based instead of the 'star wars' program. Patriots do exactly the same job and are much easier to locate/ use.

Here is a topic that takes me back to my childhood. I look back with fondness to the air raid sirens on tall poles installed in public parks and in predominant areas of town. Naive, I see today and yet... It seems to put everything into perspective. Do we really want our children and grandchildren to miss out on the legacy that defined our generation?

Needs must when the devil drives.
