Well thanks to your input I think we have the important component elements fairly nailed down:
1. shelter (bug in/out location(s))
2. water
3. food
4. security
5. transportation
6. communications
7. general supplies
8. mindset (psychological preparedness)
9. personal skill sets
10. being part of a group

If anyone can think of anything we have missed please post your suggestions.

Next we can work together to break down each of the now ten components into a meaningful possibly five point scale.

well on taz scale of 40 - I got 32/40 on Icree scale of 45 I got 36/45, lots of room for improvement as always..

I wasn't going on a scale of 40, I was going on a scale of 45. I wish it was a scale of 40, I'd be sittin' fat an' happy right now. 😎

Thanks for letting me know, with it being ten now, that would make it out of 50 at this point.. yes?

Hello everyone.
I have just joined today and am interested in getting familiar with the site. I like the scale idea.

Hmmm, maybe I should rethink the quiet part...

Take a look at the proposed five point scale for the food and water categories. What would anyone suggest for a five point scale for transportation?

1. Not interested at all
2. Gasoline powered vehicle with a backup supply of gas
3. Diesel powered vehicle with a backup supply of fuels.
4.
5.

What would be ultimate? Would it be a bicycle, a horse or a wood gas powered vehicle? Anyone's thoughts would be appreciated. What do you think?

Those with horses (mules and oxen) would be the most fortunate, as well as those with bicycles. Gasifiers would take a while to take off, as most people today have no idea (except us) of what they are, or how to construct and connect them. 😕

Transportation
#1 - Don't own a vehicle, don't want one.
#2 - Own a 2 wheel drive, family car.
#3 - Own a 4 wheel drive, off road capable vehicle.
#4 - Have alternate transportation (horses, quads, etc.) or alternate fuel (gasifier, cooking oil, alcohol, etc.)
#5 - Have a large 4 or 6 wheel drive, armoured vehicle capable of carrying supplies and several people.

I would be a #4 on this scale.

Thanx ICRCC. I'm just chock full of wild and crazy ideas.

I've got one idea for a large, hot air ballon vehicle, powered by polititions. 😎 :geek: Another one is a methane generator using polititions and bankers for the fuel source. 😆 😆

I've done my homework ......I've counted up my "prepper scale" score 😳 30 out of 50. At least it's given me a point to aim for - so...What area's are my weakest?
Transport - have a standard V6 sedan and rely on my feet to get anywhere else so that's a 3 (?) out of 5.
Communications - who do I talk to? so that's a 0 out of 5.
Group - ditto (14 preppers in the whole country?) so that's 0 out of 5.
Mindset - still having trouble with the thought of "bumping off" a bunny ( 🙄 ) but another human 😯 so that's a 2 out of 5. (I believe I could hurt someone if I had to though - I could let the dogs at them, beat them soundly about the head with a big stick, use my whip or a stabby thing etc)
All other categories I'm "reasonably" happy with, need to do more though, so....How did everyone else go?

Right now I'm just throwing ideas out there for different scales. If anyone has ideas for scales that are more balanced, throw 'em out there. I haven't spent a lot of time on this but I am interested in the idea. I know where I would stand in my own scale but it could very well be a lot different on a scale we all agree on.
