I carry a copy of the bulletin, and also include legal protection with my firearms assosciation memberships.

Its rare the crown presses unjust charges once they find you have specific firearms legal representation. They like easier targets.

As for the 10/22, it's a pain in the ass but I still like shooting them.

I feel stupid now. Never thought of keeping a copy of those very relevant bulletins in my range bag.

I have a few acquaintances that are officers, and have to say their knowledge of firearm rules are pretty iffy and I think that they'd rather blanket "play it safe and let the courts figure it out" (at your expense). So I'll print copies of storage, transportation and other bulletins and carry them as appropriate so I can POLITELY prove my point with an officer if the need ever arises.

The RCMP has been altering the bull items after the fact as well. So a record of the original/older versions is a good thing to keep filled away. If you ask on the forums, You can get PDF copies of the originals.

Sks is 5 rounds if caught with a bigger clip. Heap of trouble. I own one. Good rifle for sure. Never had a issue with it. Its a ak 47 with a different stock. Have to love pvc pipe lol... so if shtf fully automatic for me.

Term, look up xcr mags. They are legal 10 rounds. I own a half dozen sks's and they are not ak's at all.
Sks is forged, cast and machines rather than stamped steel.
The triggers are nothing alike
The blowback system is not the same
Different bolt design
Sks was never designed to be automatic.

While more than 5 rounds in an original or aftermarket SKS magazine is illegal, the use of a 10 round xcr pistol magazine is fine. It does require a 200$ adaptor though

The 10/22 was different issue, made up on the "platform" concept the rcmp has come up with outside of the firearms act. XCRs, ARs, etc all run happily on 10 rounders....

The firearms act is quite convoluted, but is does have some allowances. You have to study it hard. E.g. The TNW ASR rifle using a pistol mag.

Oh my guys/gals.
The pistol magazines are completely legal in a rifle.
The Butler Creek is still legal but the RCMP are trying to claim that the 25-round magazines were designed for the Charger pistol (apparently Butler Creek knew 25 years in advance that Ruger was going to build one). The RCMP claim has not been brought before the courts yet but there is a class-action lawsuit in the works by the CSSA (Canadian Sport Shooters Association), an organization all shooters should join and support. I joined the lawsuit myself. So, the laws didn't change but the cops are claiming a new interpretation of the law... a job reserved for the courts. It's all a fucking joke.

Also,
Join the CanadianGunnutz forums if you haven't already. All these legal mumbo jumbo has been discussed ad nauseum by far more articulate members than I.

As for 10 round mags, I have a series of two xcr LAR mags, joined together by magwedge adapters. This allows me access to 20 rounds by flipping the magazines end-over-end after I fire the first 10 rounds. This is very useful in 3-gun competitions and is very common.

Google magwedge LAR magazines. A lot of fun but gets very expensive if your simply shooting paper at the range.

Cheers!

Dangphool,
Your maxwedge sounds a lot like the "jungle mag"

I remember seeing the taped together mags in a few movies/shows over the years. Is the maxwedge faster then doing a regular mag switch?

It isn't, though I'm getting pretty quick at flipping them without dropping them.
The real advantage is that they stick out of the taco pouches as far as a regular magazine. When you use the pistol mags, that is the problem. They don't stick out far enough to grab them properly unless you also add the magpul "magazine pulls". So, it was just as easy to abut two of them together and get not only a larger face to grab, but also 10 more rounds if I don't drop it while flipping it.

Hope that makes sense.
