Does anyone keep a supply of spare parts for any of their firearms? Firing pins etc. Things that are known to break. Tools to do repairs that they are comfortable doing?
Don't really keep any spare parts, when/if something breaks I usually roll my own parts so to speak, I suggest you look at a small metal lathe so you can do the same...Lee Valley sells a very affordable one for small projects, and here is another http://www.harborfreight.com/7-inch-x-12-inch-precision-mini-lathe-93799.html . its small but you would be amazed at what you can produce with it...they do need a tune up when you first get one but after doing that you can turn out lots of interesting stuff 😉 ....only firing pins I have ever broke were on cheap strikers fired fixed firing pin pistols like a Raven p25 (junk),or 22 Jennings, though I have wore out extractors, usually the spring steel type that snap around the bold such as on a Marlin 25m or a for example.
Again if you do go for a small lathe like in that link...they must be tunned up, and tolorances tightened before using, but after doing that they are surprisingly good for their size.I have seen those lathes go on sale at princess auto for 250.00 though not in a while now.

I bought one in 87?
Not just usefull for gun parts but think plastic, you can machine all kinds of custom plastic parts, (Nylatron, pvc, lexan etc), and plastic type parts are a blast to machine as its so easy
Give a man a gun, and he can rob a bank. Give a man a bank, and he can rob the world.

Interesting you mention this as I just ordered a replacement kit for one of my firearms. It contains all the small parts that can be lost or broken during I'm-depth cleaning process or routine use. I'm also planning on keeping my eyes on parts for my other firearms at gun shows or online.
