My wife is into the natural path medicines quite a bit and I've heard her mention to diabetic friends that many can set themselves free of their drug requirements by specific diet restrictions. May not be the most enjoyable approach as I think it is dang near a vegan lifestyle for diabetics but that is still far better than dying from lack of insulin. I don't know much other than to suggest you talk to a natural path physician about your type of diabetes and it's affects on your conditions. I do know that pharmaceutical drugs did nothing to help my wife's battle with Lyme disease until she went the natural path route. Check it out, what can it hurt!

I've been a type 2 diabetic for 20 years. For the first 12 years, I was able to control my blood sugar with diet alone. Now I'm on medication. I understand that I likely could control my blood sugar (albiet higher levels) to a certain extent with nutrition alone when TSHTF. But the biggest problem for me is my energy level which is constantly low - and I expect that I will need higher energy to survive.

Can this be better controlled by higher sugar intake? And I don't ask this meaning with the use of real sugar but maybe natural substitutes offered by natural path drugs instead (and the sugar beet story I watched on Monday Movie issue here). I don't know anything regarding this subject other than curiosity regarding possible alternatives. I remember when my daughter was doing the Atkin's diet, they held claims that some diabetics could live drug free on their protein diet. Don't know if even that was true, just that it was one of their claims.
