Hi there!
Rachel from Niagara calling! I'm brand new to prepping. I live in Thorold-Niagara Falls area on about 10 acres in the country. I'm a college student, still at home with my parents, taking Culinary Management. I was in cadets and have always been interested in survival training, which lead me here! I've been trying to learn about some gardening, and we have some livestock(Horses, chickens, turkeys, geese, ducks, quail, and rabbits), and I've recently taken an interest in identifying edible plants. I also partake in leatherworking, I know a bit of woodworking, and of course, cooking.
At 18, I've realized that the few cans of PC brand green beans my Dad thinks are survival food will not last long, and so I've been trying to sneak a little bit of prepping into our lives (He thinks he's fully prepared. Him and his beans XD)
I've recently gotten my hunting license, doing the paperwork to get a non-restricted PAL (done the course), and I have a few air rifles kicking around. I'm a pretty good shot, too. Went out to the range day (Basically, pay-to-shoot) and put 12 rounds on an SKS within a 1 inch grouping.
My biggest survival concern would be water. We have our own well, but if the powers out, she don't work.
Let's get prepping!
Welcome RachelM and greetings from Northern Ontario.

Welcome RachelM! It sounds like you and your family have made a good start in prepping. The fact that you, at 18, are even aware of prepping is pretty amazing! You have taken positive steps forward and now you can only grow in your prepping............. 🙂
Hello and welcome from a Welland-er RachelM. I hope you find yourself enjoying your time here.

RachelM,
Possible solution to your well water concern. Research a solar water pump. If that is of interest, also consider a holding tank, say 2000 litres. If you mount your holding tank in a location above the family home, you will have a gravity feed water system. It will work without power. With the solar water pump it will keep your tank full during the day. It is unlikely a family of three will use 2000 litres of water each night.
Just something to think about.
Mountainman.
