My personal opinion on over populations is to education the women of the world. Not some intentional body like the UN or WTO or who, you name it, they have a hidden agenda and from what they have done sense there conception it would seem there population control has been to start a war in that country and kill as many people as you can. Use radioactive bombs so the children are born with malformations and metal retardation. leaving all of society with lower immune systems and hence more disease to kill off more population. Now if women had a chose to have children I'm pretty sure most would only want one or two if they new there child would live to be an adult.
Overpopulation isn't something to worry too much about. Nature has a way of dealing with any species that becomes too numerous for it's environment. While humans seem to have developed technology to hold mother nature at bay, we WILL lose. The population of the earth at the time of Christ is estimated to be around 300 million. Fast forward to 1918 and the population is 1.2 billion. Then technology started to happen big time. Now it's true that tech does make life easier, but that same tech is also killing us. There is now 30% more carbon dioxide in the air than there was in world war 1. The pollutants we dump in our landfills and in our oceans is staggering. We're causing the extinction of thousands of species a year. Many (ALL) of those species, we need.
It's estimated that all the food produced worldwide in one year, is consumed by mid November. Governments all over the world held large food reserves for their people. Those reserves are gone. As of 2015, we will have eaten all of our food by the first week of November. We will continue to lose ground as our population increases and our arable land decreases.
Right after WWI the Spanish flu killed well over 50 million people worldwide. The CDC and the WHO have said that a flu pandemic of moderate impact (infecting 200 million or more) would be devastating to civilization. That estimate is based on a mortality rate of 3%. The avian flu had a mortality rate of 67%. During the time of the Spanish flu it would sometimes take weeks to travel to other countries, now you can get anywhere in the world in 24 hours. Our modern technology helps spread a virus really fast.
We have come to depend so much on modern technology that if something was to happen (massive solar flare and cme for example) we would be devastated. Within a month, a third of the population of the world would starve and/or freeze to death.
In the end Mother Nature will thin the herd and we probably won't learn the lesson. We'll still continue to find ways to be self-destructive.
I agree with Beth, educate women and the population increase will decrease. Sure, Mother Nature is a bitch, and will eventually thin the herd, but at what cost to us as individual sentient beings as we watch our children die? I believe the surest way to lower and control birth rate is to educate girls/women, get fewer children, better cared for and valued.
Christ is estimated to be around 300 million. Well suppose you could say that, if it were true, that is about Christ. I know the word meaning south cross, crux, any how. Showing up on the winter solstice. and that's as old as the sun.
"The CDC and the WHO have said that a flu pandemic of moderate impact (infecting 200 million or more) would be devastating to civilization."
That's because they are probably the ones releasing it out of the vile, so I guess they would know. And just saying, there is lots of food, and as soon as big mega corporation stop trying to feed us, and we take over that job, there will be plenty left overs for all. I think what will drop the population is man kinds lack of knowing what is killing them right now, I mean ask a random person if the know what GMO or how depleted uranium or plastic that mimic our own DNA altering it. Or how your hair and body products seep into you skin and start cancers. I often shack my head when I see all this fund raising for cancer, guess what they will never find a cure, one, because it is now big business and two because we would have to get rid of half the crap on store shelf's to end it.
Mother nature had her own form of population control and that was plague, pestilence, earth quakes, tsunamis and drought. Man came along with science and screwed it up, but he did create WAR, and biological warfare. Still we need a good CME to set everything right again. 😈

you and your bloody CME's...didn't one hit Quebec or something and all that happened were the lights went out?

You're right C4, one did hit Quebec. It was said to be a glancing blow and 9 million people went without power for 6 hours. I once saw a video of what would happen if a massive one put us in a bullseye. Scientists said that one that hit us directly would cause a kind of whiplash effect in the earths magnetic field. The whiplash would knock out the grid on the darkside just like the CME would knock it out on the lightside. Result: power down for the whole planet. In Quebec, transformers were melted. Since the transformers are all made in Europe to order, we'd be hooped. The machines that are used to build new transformers are run by electricity, so they wouldn't be working either. I, for one, think that ranger2012 has a valid concern. I share it. A major CME is one of the perfect storm scenarios that we face right now.
Those who are unwilling to defend freedom, will become unfree.
There are 5 companies in North America that make high voltage transformers, It take 1 year from start to finish, to produce one. Between 50-70 transformers a year can be made once all the production lines started up again. In North America alone, there are 3000 major high voltage distribution transformers. 10000 in the world. We are due for a large CME.

your right about the transformers. i worked anti terrorism in the UK back in 2000 - 2002 and we uncovered a bomb plot to attack a couple of transformers. no loss of life, so it wasen't the highest threat priority. anyways, investigation revealed if these particular transformers were disabled the electric company told us as least a year to replace. london without power for at least a year!!! it became our highest threat priority. prime ministers office became involved because we asked them to start making spares (makes sense right?) and they didnt want to (expensive). the prime ministers office made them in the end. they have four spares now, but i didnt realize how fragile the system was until then.

I'm willing to bet that the over population problem isn't going to be a problem for much longer.
Actually it's a little off topic but the CME threat is perhaps the only one of all the media-conceived fear-mongering theories that holds an actual percentage that it may occur. The odds are extremely low, set below a 2% chance. The affects are totally dependent on the electromagnetic strength and as always; location, location, location. We were hit with a level 2 just six days ago but it was a glancing blow that produced no harmful effects. The shields held "Scotty" and all’s good. We are under a real threat, albeit low odds for the next year since we are nearing a high-peak year of activity in the eleven-year cycle. If you can actually believe, or choose to believe what anyone says the majority of the other threats up to and including the total economic collapse of the States is realistically inconceivable. It’s at the same odds as Niburu shooting out from behind the sun tomorrow and nailing us.
The problem with perception and the concept of irrational likelihood’s is that it depends whether you watch a tornado and it's affects on the news, or it's your trailer that was taken out I guess. Certainly the end of someone's life as they knew it. The changing weather and with it the occurrences of more violent reactions is a real and for most parts unpredictable threats. We really don’t need to be affected by false ones drummed up to support the wallets of imaginative writers and those who prosper financially because of them.
Well back on topic with those that were commenting on population growth. I think that most are absolutely right with some of their points and they're well made.
I think a huge statistic that relates to future population growth isn't being calculated into the real-life equations. As countrys such as India and China are progressing more and more towards the "American dream" with regards to material ownership and wealth, it is also changing the life-style of the women in those countries. The emerging wealth and upswing of a once non-existent middle class is having the same affects that happened in our continent after the baby boom of the second world war. That coincides with our times of industrial booms and financial upswings as well in the fifties and early sixties. After the boys came back home it was only natural that there would be a huge increase in our propulation: the Baby Boom. After all half of them probably didn't even think they'd get home with their conads attached, let alone be swept up in the excitement of victory and long overdue for the company of a woman.
The more availability of moneys to be made - the more it changes our inherent life-styles and although it took some time and a lot of burning bras in barrels on the streets of the United States women waived having children for a carreer and to create a new disposable income for their families. After all, Mary next door has an electric washing machine and the Cleavers just got a television. We all know where that led. To an absolute dependency on dual-working parents and the advent of not only daycare, but also more and more families deciding not to have as many children, if any at all as time went by. It became all about me with no thought to sacraficing one darn thing or one opportunity for more "just to have kids". We were torn apart into satelite families in the pursuit of wealth and happiness, leaving behind our age-old support systems of having family near by to help out with the kids as well.
False market pricing and infaltion soon brought the majority of our families to the point of both parents working as a necessity just to exist and try to live the facade of "owning the dream." Once the financiers learned of the stored wealth in investment they set out ways to ensure that was no longer available to us and in turn ended up in their pockets with market crashes. It seems every twenty years when people are just gaining faith and accumulation in their savings plans, they find a way to strip them of it again.
Just as in our society migrated from the majority of our families being ma and pa subsistence farmers to the cities for the high paying-wages, we no longer required the large families to help out with the chores and make the bacon. Of course the “money folks” were quite happy to rush this along to gain ownership of the farmlands to create monstrous industrial production complexes to replace the farm industry. China and some Africans are also following this same trend and mentality. One word of advice; don’t cut up your dead cattle and feed it back to them OK? Of course that is another solution to ‘decrease the surplus population” as Dickens would put it.
Gold has a way of blinding people when the light is shone on it from the right angle and if the "money boys" know one thing and have it down to an art, it is the art of manipulating the population through advertisement while governments manipulate them with propaganda. Both addressing the same agenda and it doesn't speak to growth of families, but growth of the economy to stuff their pockets with.
Point is; I can't imagine it is going to be any different for the Middle and far Eastern countries that are now riding the wave; trying to surf for the “promised land.” They can now see the dream they were missing through the development of global media and they want it. The middle-class in some African nations are also taking hold and growing at a fine quarterly rate and return. They will through their own pursuit of happiness (ownership of stuff) turn their backs on the traditions of large families to support them and care for them in their old age, after all; they have their investments for that now, don't they?
Just saying, that I think people should consider if this won't also have a significant affect on curbing population growth in the countries that it is most needed that hasn't been accounted for in the present statistics.
It's a bit long I guess - 😮
One thing is fure sure; we (the human race) do not have the answer to overpopulation. Unfortunately it is not just as simple as education.
A terrific "essay" Rogue on the state of popuation/economy around the world, especially in up-and-coming 'third world'/developed country wanna-be's. It is very hard on the world's natural resources when a country of 3billion now wants the 'American' dream
PrepHer you are absolutely correct. The population of the USA is a mere 314 million compared with 1.4 billion for china and 1.2 billion for India. Personally I doubt that the tremendous demand on resources indicated by these Asian countries desires will ever be met. If they were they are certainly not sustainable. Neither for that matter is the world's current population.

I completely agree with this post. Perhaps Western Society should come up with a new dream to aspire to. Sadly India and China WILL attempt to gain the dream and we will ALL pay for it as a result in one way or another.
