The damn thing is out. I was eating perks and hydromorphone like jelly beans from a dish for a while, so glad they were able to move the date up. The Dentist said getting this tooth and the parts of it out wasnt the hardest extraction he had done, but it ranked up there. I guess I have really long roots and being the rear most tooth it couldnt have been easy for him. He shot my gums right full of that numbing stuff and does it ever work well. I would like to know what that stuff is and score a little supply to have on hand.
I remember reading a story about dental care in the Former Soviet Union, before the break up. The article said that the freezing compound that is shot into the gums to numb them before extractions, root canal and such was never available. So this meant for practical purposes there dental services were done without freezing. I cant imagine...

Glad to hear that the fractured tooth is out. Somewhat glad to hear you also had the resources to self medicate and take away the pain.

EDITED: It’s insane that one has to wait that long for such an obviously urgent procedure.
It’s all these funny things that add to the impact. because we are so accustomed To just picking up the phone we are very unprepared for any shortage.
In my opinion, there is zero reason why your procedure couldn’t be done, if a Walmart........worker who is paid far less to go to work can show up, then a dentist can frigging well get their buns to work 😡 :

I find people freezing up / panicking for nothing and it’s very troubling because they appear to not have what it takes to handle the slightest emergency. I say this because by nature and later By professional development, unbiased observations were critical and at times life preserving requirements.

Now here’s another angle that Should things deteriorate with second and third wave manifest itself, people will turn more and more to black market or organized crime to obtain what they need. If you think of the below tooth issue, what would one do if pharmacy was out, your doc wouldn’t answer the phone and you didn’t feel like waiting five hours in an emergency department, you would talk to a guy who knows a guy.

You can expect increased internal theft for personal use or to sell themselves or through said organized crime For extra cash. You can expect strikes from critical workers such as food processing or distribution, because people will see that dentist, doctor exec... sitting at home safe but they are cutting meat in cold environment or stocking shelves for 15.00 an hour. Very simple human nature and frankly easy to justify under certain circumstances, it may not be “nice” or right but such is the common reaction to one who feels they are getting the short end of the stick. Again, I make no biased accusations, simple observations on human nature and precedents. As I have mentioned in other posts, none and I mean NONE of what is occurring was not predicted and discussed amongst certain folks. ALL known and completely logical. It’s our silly emotions and make believe ideals that bring us to where we are and sadly likely where we will go over the coming months to years.

A strike in an already tenuous situation can be really crippling and while emergency powers act could be activated to deal with this, a simple glance to the south sees how governments are unwilling to punish their voting base. Of course that eventually changes but the initial pain will be done to people’s idea of what is right, innocents will suffer and animosity’s will increase and lead to more “alternative” means of survival or how society will change. A perfect example is prohibition, just think about what that meant and still means today. organized crime got a huge boost in money, influence with people and bribery of all levels of law enforcement, courts and every level of government and lets not forget Organized crimes influence on unions, which circles back to power of strikes etc. If you have ( which we do) weak governments unable to provide real or perceived necessities, Law and order/ protection being combined with union action aided by organized crime, you empower the black market and bit by bit further weaken the trust or power of a civil government. What’s worse is, the government In the belief they must do “something “, they will impose even greater restrictions and enforcements? This will only lead to further entrenchment of organized crime or little gangs and disrespect and hatred of authority. Things quickly become an “us and them” world and that is not good. Thankfully, the provinces did not go along with a marshal law ( emergency measures act) idea this spring but who knows what could pop out of Pandora’s box this winter!

I am not making the above up, rather it and a great deal more formed part of my education on how to protect people from terrorists, support to them from their communities, what to expect from average citizens, weaknesses in critical infrastructure, natural or man made disasters...

I am not breaking any oaths etc, It’s all there for us to see and interpret Or anticipate in our current situation. The problem with many prepper sites is many go all hysterical with end of time and zombie scenarios and the average person can’t relate to the predictions but if they stopped and thought about past and current examples they would see how many of the predictions can very easily come to pass. It’s understanding and then seeing how weird things can come into practice that people need to appreciate and then plan for. Ten months ago, most people would laugh hysterically at you if you said you couldn’t buy pasta, flour, get a bad tooth taken care of, not hop on a plane to the south..... for one they did not want to believe it and because they didn’t want to, they were unable even consider logical scenarios being presented to them. Willful ignorance. Sadly these naive fools Will react and react in ways that is not conducive to good order. They will like they are doing, freeze up, over react, join with mobs or falsely rely upon others for assistance.

I have seen very well informed security folks balk at some of the scenarios presented to them, they truly couldn’t believe the system would fail them, but when they were lead through the facts from various experts ( won’t ever see them on TV and if you do, they won’t be forthright) and not the hacks we see these days, they would sit in stunned silence.

Nope, ones ability to have a simple tooth pulled, being able to buy a bag of potatoes, veggies, some hamburger, meds, flour, parts for a tractor....... are all in jeopardy and when available, will like a bottle of whisky or gin, cause people to do funny things to obtain.

Human nature in all it’s glory is presenting itself and will if things continue to deteriorate, will only get worse and be amplified. Some Examples of good to be sure, but mostly the ugly side.

Apologize for long winded or detailed message but as I mention above, very well informed folks are still shocked in disbelief when presented with reality and I know many here are already well versed on this but there are likely new people or perhaps even some who while having food stashed for three months and more are not prepared mentally or situationally for other manifestations and it’s best if we all stepped back and look at what is going on around us in canada and around the world and read the tea leaves as best as we can.

I really hate bringing up the Nazis.... but use them and communist example on how things come about and roll from there. A depression leads to breakdowns Or loss of confidence in government, governments quickly changes with new laws or measures being introduced in rapid form, the public doesn’t know which way is up, they form tribes....more chaos and then the draconian “controls” come out and we all know the various stories. I am not, repeat not saying we are headed towards camps... I am saying and if one looks to the south and history, that some weird and dangerous dynamics can manifest themselves in otherwise peaceful areas and liberties. Some will defend while others will rebel at the ideas.

Either way, one needs to think, plan and be ready for logical scenarios that given history can manifest again. Simple logic and no political bent or agenda and no different then planning a camping trip in late October. Could be sunny and glorious or You wake up to a foot of snow and you only have a light jacket, no mitts and two granola bars left.
