The things to do list doesnt shrink in the winter, but its dark half the time. I use those head mounted flash lights like this Pelican one.
A good light but pricey, The last month I have been testing one from the dollar store. I think it was 3.50-4.00 dollars. It has a black case and orange on/off button. This blows away my Pelican model, it now is what I reach for when doing anything outside.
I highly recommend this one, its cheap plastic rather than a quality glass fiber impregnated nylon like the pelican but the light quality is outstanding, blows away the others I have and for just a few dollars is well worth it. (the rechargeable batteries in it cost more)
I am about 14-16 feet away from that stack of wood and its a pitch black night. Look how even the light distribution is, from the far left to the far right of my field of view...just outstanding! For a good hands free flashlight at a dirt cheap price, consider one of these

Peppercorn, which dollar store did you find this one at? (Not location but chain name). I have a bunch of different head lamps in different places and I concur that they are worth their weight in gold. Always a need for a few more...
Just "Dollar Store" not "Dollar Tree" or other copy cat names. It wasn't from a Edmonton branch but they all have similar stock. The brands they carry change all the time though, I am going to pick up a few more while I can...I love the bright even light, roughly 128 degree distribution
Its very thin, and light or reasonably so. I don't expect it to last like my Pelican ones, but at 4 bucks I don't care either so long as I have bright light when working outside I am happy.

Dollarama, not dollar store. I got the two mixed up.
Dollarama also has this type(below) marginal at best. I have them for the vehicles but they are pretty cheap and clunky, I will replace them with the new model they now carry.

Well, I knew that little grey/orange light looked familiar, I own one! I picked mine up about a year ago on Amazon. The price would have been good, but certainly more than the $4 you said you paid. I keep mine in my truck "take everywhere - contains a bit of everything" bag.
I agree with the good value and if I see one on my next Dollarama trip, I'll pick another couple.
I am going to buy more for stocking stuffers for next Christmas. I like the quality of Pelican or mag light products, but the cost of that pelican was something like 70 dollars, and the light distribution doesn't = this 4 dollar one..... I can have 17 of these for the same price!
I have red lens that I put it my pelican models (they have a narrow beam) when I go out at night snow shoeing. The model from Dollarama with its wide beam isn't suitable for stealth snow shoeing, so I will use it for working out side applications. There is a purpose for everything!

This time when I was at dollarama the inventory changed they still have this style but the case is now white, I dug around and found one last black cased model in the pile so I bought it.
Now that I have two of these I got to thinking......
and yes they both could be put on the same head band for twice the power...it fits the head comfortable...lots of light..
but now the question is can I put 3 on the same head band, or will it be to heavy?
