So my mum finds she has too many stairs and I wish their was more like minded folk around, more friends close by for the kids, more English people for the wife warmer climate, and English schools for the kids.

Were more at the dreaming stage but we've checked PEI some and my mum called today with a house she found in NS! I know theirs a lot more preppers, better climate and everything else in NS and the houses seem cheaper too.

The house was near Digby and most of the other houses we've seem to find are near Digby too. My first thought was all these larger 5-6 bed 1-2 + baths with acreage 3 and up but hopefully over 5 and over because I have two dogs are about 150yrs old and are so close to the ocean you can taste it. Mostly at low elevations.

We're pretty serious and looking at PEI, NS, Meaford, Ontario and Joliette, Quebec. Places my mum likes and I like the places I know on the list too. (My mum was stationed twice there with her father and her ex) She loves the place and the people. I do all my mums heavy lifting and fixing (poor her but I do my best) so she won't move alone and I'm into community and grandma is the most active in my community.

So if you all could please steer me to the best areas to stay in NS; Keeping in mind we need a 4-6 bedroom house with some acreage. I might be willing to go done to 3 acres in a small town. The pincher is I don't have a job lined up but between my mum and us and the fact I don't want a forevermore mortgage; Under $250,000 and not too many repairs unless the price reflects it. I'd like something nice for my family but we're ok with our $25,000 home we bought here other than its a little small, far from kids friends and climate is tough to say the least. I am worried about the stone basements as I'd like them to not leak and be strong but it leaks here and life goes on. I'm not living in a flood zone unless it's on a big hill not in a flood zone.

I'd love to meet with you folks when I visit you're lovely province and it's people from what I've heard.

What's the best places to look online for a homestead in NS?

This is the first one she showed me and really set the tone of what was possible

As I've mentioned to you before, there are quite a few properties available in the Annapolis Valley in the price range you've mentioned. This is one example, but this particular one is a little small for your needs: https://www.kijiji.ca/v-house-for-sale/annapolis-valley/471-vault-melvern-square-nova-scotia/1352235952?enableSearchNavigationFlag=true

Anyway, it will give you some idea. This property is 10 mins outside Greenwood, so it's close to shopping and the like. I don't know what you do for a living, but CFB Greenwood hires several civilian workers. It's a nice area that would likely fit-the-bill.

None you improvise, one (or more) is luxury.

No doubts but with busy lives it is what it is. I'm a personal support worker. Must be nice because prices seem to be higher. Thanks; I'll ask my mum to check it out today

The best real estate site is www.viewpoint.ca -- this is because the map shows the actual outline of properties on a map on a ready glance. For example, many properties are decent size (say 20+acres), but are in reality long narrrow strips, or a road cuts through and so on. That's all immediately visible on viewpoint.ca. There's nothing else like it.
