Just wanted to get some ideas and thoughts from everyone on my 3 plan approch.
For our family we are working on a plan that involves 3 plans.
1) Make our current house livable for a year at least if TSHTF.
2) If we need to leave Canada , have a way point that all friends meet at that in itself is stocked for several families to live in and stay if needed. This location will be on the st lawrence and accessable by water, so we can leave Canada if needed (we get there by boat)
3) If we can stay in Canada have another location , accessable by water that you would go via the lakes to, that is sustainable as well for several families in northern ontario.
The idea is that use a boat to travel if you can to avoid the mad rush
Make sure you can stay put if you need to then go
Make sure you can leave the country if needed
Make sure we have 2 locations if one fails
Its a 8 year plan that can be generational once setup
Thoughts?
Interesting. I had never thought of leaving the country
Me either...I haven't got a passport and aren't intending on leaving the country as I believe that when the SHTF it will affect every country leaving nowhere to go that would be much better than staying put.
But then again being in Australia we are some what isolated apart from New Zealand...haha and I don't think they are likely to attack 😆
I personally would not even think of heading south during a SHTF scenario. Yes they have a laxer view on gun control, but look what happened during Katrina. The PTB came and took every gun that they knew of from the people with out receipt, meaning that they would never get it back. With more and more freedoms being revoked down there, I think I’ll stay up here.

I would more worry about tons of Americans coming to Canada if anything serious happened. Henry
Leavening the country? Probably not.
Crossing the country? Maybe.
Moving south? Absolutely not unless there is a sudden ice age!
I would NEVER head south. I agree with Henry: I think the Yankees will head north to Canada
Yup!

I think the only way I would leave the country is if I was going to Alaska
To many people to the south
My survival plan is to stay away from large population areas

Well since you're looking for input; the fact is you do have a plan and that's a good thing. I also plan on a year in if that's possible, but I'm not a huge contributor to SHTF scenarios being widespread and choatic. That doesn't mean I disregard the idea, just that I'm skeptical.
I'm not familiar with the American side of your area. I am with our side of your area. The boat is a great idea as long as you're willing to trust leaving it in the bush and heading inland. Sure beats traversing the roads. If it's all as bad as that and you don't feel you can trust the general population I'd head out a dusk though and know my route. On land they call them thieves, on water they call them pirates.
I'll have to agree with most though, why South to that, when you could head north in your area? Chances are if we have widespread problems, they will too. Even though it's lost some ground internationally in the past few years there's still something to be said for wearing a Canadian patch on your shoulder or backpack. It seems less intimidating to me than wearing an American one. I know that's stereotypical and I'm painting them all with the same brush but if you can percieve it to be true than perhaps it's worthy of consideration.
Regardless, you put together a comprehensive plan and I consider you're lucky to have the boat option going for you.
Thank you all for your feedback , some good points.
Not really looking at the southern USA. There are many Islands I would consider going to , Tortolla being one, A few Islands in the north east , some in the Atlantic. It really would be a decision once we figured out why we needed to leave and where we wouldneed to go.
With a Sail boat or a good Catamaran we could sail many places.
