Hey folks, just registered a few minutes ago. Last night I found a new school in Ontario that has some pretty neat sounding classes. Fired a email to them and they actually responded 30 min later. Arranged to have a phone discussion with them tonight and will post how that went. There E@E class sounds very interesting.

Why not save your money and buy gc_mountainmans book The G.O.O.D. Plan instead. For $20 it is chock full of info that every prepper should learn.

Well at first thought it would seem oh my god that's outrageous however break it down logically. I bring home a tad more then 800 bucks a week. I don' t think it's too far off to pay someone 150 bucks a day for their knowledge especially if I can take the learning curve from years of practice on my part to a month or two with their instruction. I pay someone to fix my car. For me at 90 plus bucks an hour. Maybe your time is worth nothing and that is fine too but I have paid serious bucks to learn skills from those that know and continue to do so and have been for over 25 years. With time and experience you will probably realize that being cheap just takes you nowhere slowly. I could have farted around for years thinking I was getting better at shooting or I could get myself set up with those in the know and be able to outshoot 98% of anyone out there. I decided on the much faster plan and reached my goal in that regard. Now I focus on the next big skillset on my list and actually get somewhere with my preps. On our team I am the shooter cause I took the courses and put the time in to get real good. Another on my team focused on the medical aspects and teaches the rest of us as I teach them shooting. All our members pay for instruction and bring it back to the group. It's the only feasible way to do it guys and girls. Don't be cheap. Get capable.

goodness, that looks great for those who need it. training is never cheap but always worthwhile.
A good alternative to paying for formal training is, to make (in-person) connections and share knowledge and resources.
wouldn't mind meeting the teachers...

Hi systema,

So how did your call go with them? I havn't seen your post yet on your discussions with this new prepper school.

I went and checked out the website. Dan, one of the teachers is a "practitioner" of Systema. Small world eh?

Hell for that much I would teach myself, let me see. @ $150 per person, 6 people, for 5 days, I'm sure a few of us would gladly teach a course for $4500. Divide between the two of us, (WildE) Thats more than I make in 2 months.
I'm definately in the wrong business. 😐

Interesting. This could be good for people with no outdoors experience to jump right in and get some basic training. Admittedly I did it the hard way. Years of deep woods camping, hunting, cottaging, research and good old fashioned trial and error. The only risk here other than the program sucking and being a waste of time and money is people going once and then thinking they could easily survive any situation because the picked up some sort of official looking 'certificate' to take home after just one weekend in the bush. Survival skill sets take years to properly develop.
