found some great brand name duct tape at a local dollar store, best duct tape i've used and at $1 a roll.
Great for emergency tape on wounds, closes the wound up tight.

Entropy,
I also buy my matches and canning lids at the dollar store.
Also, I buy cheap batteries there for use in remote controls, clocks, etc, which helps me save my Duracells for flashlights and radios.
There are lots of types of cheap cordage, misc. hardware items, and cleaning supplies.
I also get my canned meat there, as well as some other food items.
Some of my garden seeds came from there this year and they grew as well, or as poor, as the more expensive seed packs from the garden center.
The cheap solar lights they sell are crap for light, but make decent solar battery chargers.
Dollarama buys: Wooden matches in those little packages of 40 per pkg - wrapped in a ten pack (that's 400 matches). The small boxes make good barter fodder and you get 50 more matches than the large pack of 350 matches. Also Firestarters (they still don't have the ones I like that they carried last fall....)
I also buy canned ham for $1.25 there; duct tape; some hardware items; 2 litre liquid soap; tin foil; lip gloss; and of course "comfort food" like chocolate bars 🙂
I see they are now carrying some vitamins, condoms, and pregnancy test kits (don't rely on them thought lol 😆 )
Dollarama, what a great store. I too buy canned ham from there. I also love their beef stew. Anyone noticed that they have raised their price for a lot of canned goods from $1.00 to $1.25? That’s a 25% increase! Still a bargain though.
The canning lids have gone to $1.50 a package! ergh.
I met someone at Canadian Tire yesterday and steering him to the dollar store as $1.50 was still cheaper than $2.39. Last year they were a $1.00. Talk about inflation 🙂

Found Clark brand ready to serve tins of soup for $1.00 at DollarTree (they used to be Dollar Giant). Clark makes excellent quality baked beans and soups.
They also had two USA brands of stews, chili, meatballs and gravy and "ragout" for $1.00...and canned Chicken and Dumplings for $1.00 made in Georgia...all had excellent BB dates. So of course I bought a couple of cans of each to try 😉
Nothing in Dollar Tree is more than $1.25 and they have loads of made in Canada toiletries ...shampoos, bath and shower stuff all made in Canada. They have a huge variety of household goods suited to prepping.
I'm the lady you're stuck behind in the grocery store with the over loaded cart filled with cases of tuna, peanut butter, huge bags of rice and the weary looking husband

Dollarama has raised their prices. Some time ago, they announced their plan to do so because selling items for $1.00 was no longer profitable, and well I believe them. They now have items at $1.00, $1.25, $1.50, and $2.00. DW and I were talking to a clerk a while back and found out that the long term plan is to bring in items at $3.00, $4.00, and $5.00. We have already seen the $3.00 items on the shelves, so we believe that the $4.00 and $5.00 items will be following soon.
the Dollar Store is an awesome place to stock up...ramen noodles..4 for $1....I like the Clark soups as they have the pull tab top to open??...makes it easier to open and no need for a can opener...they have spices and such...cottonballs, and now they carry medicine which is made in Canada as well...good for the bugout/medicine bag thats for sure....Here is something that alot of people forget about for their medicine bag....Calamine lotion....its at the Dollar Store as well...good for poison ivy, bug bites, sunburns...etc.....

pull top cans don't store as long term as regular cans. i don't remember the defect for sure, but i believe it was the seal leaked on the pull lid. i've never bought those cans just because nothing i used had them, but there were a number of failure reported in the last few years of long term stored cans. . . but of course that is pushing them beyond their best before dates. use within that they are fine, if plan to store food longer term, get regular cans.

with regular rotation, they are ok....

Thanks for the info Denob. I guess it's time to stock up now and save a bunch.
Some, not all stores have that space blanket for emergencies.
$1 what a deal, they are over $5 at CT.
I got one for both vehicles and BOB's
They also have the same material for a tent/ tarp.
I was looking for those. Unfortunately our store doesn't carry them. You are right they are great for a BOB.
