Is anyone else getting hang up phone calls? They started about 3 weeks ago. The phone only rings once which is not enough for my phone to show the number that is calling. Last night I got a couple. One about 1am and the other around 3am.

Asking as I find it a bit un-nerving.

I don't know, I am bad, I turn my phone off if I don't need it, its not on and I don't have answering machine or call display most of the time, sometimes I plug in the mobile phone and do but most of the time I only have the old fashioned land line in use. I realize that not everyone can just turn their phones off, but it sure does get rid of that kind of issue.

It's just one ring. Enough to have me stop what I am doing to check the phone or wake me up. Spam phone calls when feeling evil I will answer & then just put the phone down and walk away. When the kids were little I would hand them the phone lol

I got a few of those, not as much lately. I read somewhere that they are automated calls to check and see if the phone number is active. If the machine gets a ring probably ads the number to a list .

You can add your number the national DNCL Do Not Call list. In Canada it is $25,000 fine for companies to call you for sales. If your number is on the DNCL they are supossed to "Scrub" thier lists weekly. Reputable companies are pretty good with following the rules but thier are ways around it. They can call and ask you questions for a survey, then they will call back later based on your answers, also charities and a couple of others. For the most part telemarketers are prohibited from making unsolicited sales calls. The Canadian legislation came into effect a couple years back. You must add your number to the list and renew the listing every 5 years this is a free service.

Justin, many overseas companies are using the list as an active calling list and doing it from there.

Well that sucks, it kinda defeats the whole purpose of the list in the first place.
Thanks for the info

Justin

Thanks all. I was worried my stalker was back. After you suggested the spam calls I googled to see if anyone else was having the same issue. One family made the Chicago newspaper as it got really bad for them. The phone company ended up having to put a block on the line for automated calls

I found out who keeps calling here. pick up the phone and nothing, so i *69 the call and got the number. Its coming from Ontario California marking company. they get you so pissed off you call back and they lay into you with the marketing. I Google the number and there are millions of complainants.
