I made one similar to this one, But, you need to secure the bottom of the candle with a wire so that there is little chance of it falling when burned down to the catch point.

I like home made oil lamps. The ones that use actual cooking oil. Its alot easier to run out of candles than oil. I've made several and they work very well indeed.
