I love seeing people take trash and make something interesting and useful, the fact that he is able to live on it is also a plus. I think that it only survived them storms cause of where it is located on the river, once in the open sea I think this guy is in for a world of hurting. But none the less I give him two thumbs up for doing what he wants to do to get the most out of his life.
Never underestimate the power of free! If someone has deemed something valueless, yet U see value in it; Then you've already made a profit and savings!
