Good point Entropy, guess the small cities could have a unique set of problems. I imagine hospitals are set up like any prison or jail, once power is out for an extended period of time the doors just open. Think I am buying a few extra cans of ammo this week - lol!

If you're concerned about people acting crazy, mentally ill people are probably going to be some of the tamer people. How many neighbours of yours are on prescribed medication, that might as well be called what they are - DRUGS? Many of your sane and honoured members of the community will become just the opposite when their children have no bread. Of much greater concern to me are bikers and already well-established gangs that are just waiting for a WROL situation to claim their territory in complete.

That is a point well made DavidThompson and one that we should never underestimate. When there is not enough food for the family, people can get really ugly!

Okay, I object to the biker slur, Mr. T. My son is a biker and he is vigilant about his family and loved ones, but he would NEVER hurt someone else's. Bikers are lawyers, doctors builders, and the list goes on. Don't believe everything you see on reality tv because many clubs (not all) have ethics. There are smaller clubs and not everyone is a Hell's Angel. And if you live in a biker region, chances are, you're a biker too. Club rules apply.

That said, avoid river valleys and floodplains. I live on top of a hill near the Credit River and I've seen the spring thaw move blocks of ice the size of a large car.

Good point - and probably 65%-75% of the population of Ontario would fall into that zone.

Top 5:

1)Toronto ( there is no way I would want to be anywhere near the GTA)
2) Windsor (Too close to one of Americas worst cities)
3)St. Catherines (Buffalo is too close)
4)Ottawa (yes I know its the capital and would be protected by our limited military, but violence there would be high I would guess with all the people blaming government for their problems).
5) Sault Ste. Marie (Choke point for Americans, bad situation IMO).
