There will be a lot of experienced preppers out to this event. In some cases, driving a couple of hours. This would be a good chance to meet local (and not local) preppers that have the same mindset as you...

There are lots of ways to store food for long-term food storage. When done properly they can last for years and years. We’re going to look at a variety of aspects in this regard, demonstrate how related equipment is used and show you actual samples of multiple 'stored' food items. We’ll answer and provide demonstrations for the most common questions:

What types of foods are ideal to store for long term?
Where can I find the best prices on bulk food?
How much food do I need?
How do I safely store water?
How long will specific foods last?
What kind of pressure canner do I need?
How do I properly pressure can meats?
What are the best sources for carbs, proteins, etc.?
How much food do I need daily?
What size oxygen absorber do I need for ‘x’ size bag?

Food Sources - Before we discuss how to store your food for long-term we're going to give you all our sources for bulk foods.

Pressure Canning – This is a great way to store all sorts of meats and other foods. Learn from my mistakes. There are four of them actually and they’ll save you some grief if you decide to get into pressure canning. We’ll walk you through my own personal pressure canning process and show you samples of good and bad ‘pressured cans’.

Freeze-dried Meals – I’ve been using them for years. There's dozens out there. Some of these companies offer exceptional quality at a reasonable price while others have hopped on the bandwagon with terrible products that are over-priced. I’ll explain why I choose the ones I choose explaining both my good and bad experiences.

Freeze dried foods are great but very practical when you’re on a budget and doing it on your own. That’s why will also look at dehydrating…

Dehydrating Foods – This is a fantastic way to extract all the moisture from a variety of different types of foods. I’ve dehydrated a lot of different things. You may want to find out what foods I experimented with that resulted in terrible results so you don’t make the same mistakes. It’s excellent for fruits, vegetables, sauces and meats.

The Foodsaver – This thing sucks, literally. It’s great for sucking out all the air from a food saver bag for freezer storage. It can be used nontraditional for our purposes though. I’m going to show you how to connect it with Mylar bags to extract air. Mylar bags are like silk and aren’t able to connect to a Foodsaver system directly – there is a trick to do this.

I like to think of the Foodsaver as a short-term solution but can actually assist in your long-term solution with Mylar bags, oxygen absorbers and 5 gallon pails…

Mylar Bags – The best packaging for long-term food storage. We’ll explain why they’re superior to the Foodsaver system or any system for that matter. We'll show you where we get them cheap and we'll also demonstrate a few different ways to use a Mylar bag – notably – using a Foodsaver to suck out all the air.

Bulk Food Sources – There’s a few out there. Some of them are over-priced. Some are excellent. We’ll outline our personal experiences and prices in dealing with bulk food sources. Chances are they’ll be the best prices on bulk food that you’ll ever find.

Water – Most people are concerned with food storage and completely neglect water when it is actually more important. There are a few cool products out there that will allow you to store water in ways that have the prepper mindset in mind. In addition to showing various ways to store water we’re going to demonstrate how to ensure water is 'safe' for long-term storage and the various methods that people use.

Open Discussion Amongst Members – Should you feel inclined, we’d like to open the floor and discuss your experiences with long-term water and food storage. Perhaps you could bring in some samples and share your mishaps with the group.

This is over I know, however, I wonder if there is a video of this event, or if you have written a book ?

I also noticed you mentioned giving sources of some bulk items. I am wondering if you have
tried other brands of bags for the Foodsaver ? I notice http://www.uline.ca
has an offering of JUMBO rolls. Either 8x50' or 11x50'

http://www.uline.ca/BL_5595/FoodSaver-Bags

Wondering if anyone has tried these and if they work with the foodsaver , and if they are
decent plastic ? They said they are 3mil .
