I thought by now one of you in Ontario would have at least asked one question of him? But over 2 months go by, and not even one of you are in the least bit curious? Do you even know what I am talking about?

I am talking about Villager.....What I gathered from his last post was that he gave up on the property he wanted but put in a offer on a second and it was accepted, so by now a couple months later he must have closed on the deal, and is maybe scrambling to get on the land?
Was I the only one who read his post as such?

If it happened then he's up to his earlobes in labour and paperwork.... too busy to be on here recruiting.... and I hope that's the case.

It'd be awesome to see someone pull off a project of that magnitude.

It's coming... and it's going to hurt!

I am surprised that You even talk about so ....... idea.. I talk to that guy few years back and told him it is the worst idea I heard as prepper. Just think of it and you have to come into same conclusion. It was tried many ,many times in small and big and always ended very badly.
I f you have spare dollar rather roll a joint and smoke it would be better investment.

Many of us have already conversed with him or someone in the core group a while ago. I think those who have a legitimate interest are already part of his meetup group and are following through with him. Those of us after reviewing and didnt think it was something we wanted to pursue just watch and see how it pans out. I wish him the best of luck.

That is not for me either, but I wish him well trying.

While I will fully admit that, the idea does not work for me personally. but having said that, if they do well at it, I wish them all the best to it.

It's not exactly the way I would do it, but if it works for them all the power to them. Once set up, I would love a tour, if at all possible!

He's been trying this for years. I've sat down and had a beer with him and will tell you that he is a decent guy. There were, however, a few vegans interested in the property that wanted to forbid dispatching animals. This was irrespective of doing it humanely (obviously) and within your own personal area on the property. I lost interest shortly after that.

This was along the lines of what I was thinking also. It went from a group purchase with each person having an alloted parcel and turned into to by laws on what colour roof you could have, power was iffy, paying into a group purse for public space development, what you could and could not do...it started to sound like a condominium complex with all the rules...and then I started to think it was trading all the rules and by laws of my municipality...for even more rules and regs on a plot of land I wasnt allowed to own. 🙂

That being said, the allure of a wide open space with people of a common cause still sounds tempting.

Sure it does but not at the cost of personal freedoms. The irony is that most people wish to pursue such communities are looking for the freedom to live the way they want not under the guise of rules from a committee - a reason why I don't think such communities would work for someone like me.
