Do you hide or keep out of sight anything that may flag you as a prepper? Things like a dehydrator, how to books, canning or dehydrator cook books, old hand tools.

I ask as I am having new windows installed and wondered about keeping the non food items out of sight as well.

I don't think the majority of poeple have prepping in mind so wouldn't put 2 and 2 together. If you had a ton of "valuable" stuff it would be different.

I don't hide a thing: all my books go on bookshelves and other stuff is just there....
Remember, people just don't really care .....and like JustABear said, they wouldn't put 2 and 2 together since they're NOT in the Prepper frame of mind.
New windows = awesome!

Thank you both.

I can explain my treadle scroll saw, my wood cook stove and my other stove as being a person that collects antiques. I still may put my dehydrator away.

As for people noticing, I had a neighbor comment the other day about the food I was bringing into the house. Good thing I am not suppose to have gluten. I used that for my reason for the food explaining that I had to make everything from scratch including doing all my own spices. It is only part of the reason but it's still the truth 🙂

Re your neibour noticing your food. You can also tell them you do shopping for relatives who can't get out. The funny thing about nosy people is that they will notice the "odd"... but they will never expend the energy to follow it through... they will never watch to see IF you take it out..LMAO.

People will see what they want to see, and believe what they NEED to believe. Most don’t want to hear about a fore coming doom. For most what is happening has always happened, and always will happen. Anything other than that just does not matter nor will it affect us as a whole adversely. If your always buying food, it only means that you are a hoarder and not prepping for some unseen event yet to be determined.

Thanks all. That makes me feel better 🙂

I do the food shopping for my mom and I bring home all of her garbage, recycling and composting so I am always carrying things back and forth to the car. In the last month I have also given away several truck loads of furniture.

I wonder what the neighbor think about that. Hahaha

My brother in law saw my new "Separette Villa" composting toilet and now thinks I'm nuts. Funny he never said anything about the monstrous water tank and other stuff. I guess toilets make people feel weird! LOL!

We are fat so my neighbour just thinks we eat way too much LMAO and then she tells everyone! They all just roll their eyes at her. (I can not STAND nosy people!!! They tick me off! I don't care what you are doing so stop caring what I am doing ok ya thanks!)

I say "It was on sale so of course I am stocking up! I have teenaged kids to feed!" or "You know our charity group _________ ___ __ ________ right? Would you be willing to....." they are instantly OFF at that point. No one wants to help out or free recruited for anything. 🙄
