In a SHTF scenario, the guy at the door in a uniform might not be an official cop. Buy a shirt, tie, rank & badge, and a holster and you wouldn’t know that I wasn’t a cop. (except for the beer gut, and the sawed of shot gun)

Good advice would be to make sure you're NOT where the police are likely to be. They will be critically understaffed, stressed out, and possibly lacking a chain of command or direct oversight. If they show up in a public space, move away from them immediately. If they show up at your door and knock, you've got a chance to deal with them without incident. If they just bash in the door, you've got a real problem and I personally would be trying to get out the back door while they enter the front. I'd rather be alive and wrong than dead and right.
Hi all, just a newb here wanting to get involved. (but not in a SHTF scenario) lol
My input, regarding a uniformed person showing up at my door during a SHTF situation cop or like. I'd in no way open the door, but instead engage through the door as well, I'd have someone in my house on the phone (if possible) or some means of communication to the local police station finding out the validity of the person at the door. In reality, I'd assume that some sort of emergency broadcast, or radio would have or be giving information regarding officers going door to door and unless this is verifiable, no one is getting into my house, as well, I'd be ready to either deal with the situation in the least noisy, risky way possible. I'm under the idea that if SHTF, anything that draws any attention to me is bad. A SHTF situation, I will only trust those who I know personally.

Christmas wish list. AA-12 military grade, low recoil, automatic shotgun, w/ 300 rpm. This bad boy has a 8 round straight mag, a 20 & 32 round drum magazine. They have also made some interesting shells for it. 12 ga fin stabalized grenades, HE, Frag, and AP,Range, 170 meters, forget the C7, I would have given my left nut for one of these when I was in the military.

Another unfortunate truth ranger, you can't get the AA-12 in North America. It would be sweet though, wouldn't it.

One of the things that I am always concerned about is having a weapon for defense in a SHTF situation. Being in Ontario, Canada for that fact, unless you're licensed it's very difficult for the average person to get a gun, rifle, or anything of the sort. We would have to know someone who has a gun.
This being said anyone have alternatives to a firearm? what other weapons would be useful?

Good point, it really is not difficult to get a Possession Acquisition License (PAL) in Canada. It's a weekend course, they are offered all over and all the time. This is for long guns only. Pistols, well that's another story and much more difficult.
Once you have the PAL, walk into any store and buy whatever rifle or shotgun you want. Buy as many as you want.
