Today I added:
100 lbs potatoes
25 lbs Carrots
20 lbs Onions
12 cans Pasta Sauce
4 gallons Vinegar

I just found "Allens Double Strength Cleaning Vinegar" @ food basics today. It is on sale for $2 for a 2.5L jug. Its 10% acetic acid vs the standard 5%. Grabbed 10L to add to my stockpile. Besides the extra cleaning power, I'm gonna try this stuff on some chip wagon fries! I love challenging-to-eat food 😆

This week,
Got a hose that will fit on my sink taps to allow me to fill my 25 litre water container (and siphon it until i get a tap for it)
My little folding knife arrived, got a can puller for the ring pull cans - i have pain in hands often.

Got another big lot of groceries coming tomorrow, snags were cheap, got blocks of chocolate cheap so will break up and freeze some, cheap cheese to cut up and freeze, more TP and pantry fillers..

Slow and steady builds my preps

I'm still very new to prepping and attempting to focus on the short term emergencies first and expand from there. This week I picked up a Kerosene space heater and a few gallons of fuel for it. Canadian Tire had them for $60.00 off. http://www.canadiantire.ca/AST/browse/5/SportsRec/1/Hunting/Heaters/PRD~0762355P/World+Marketing+10%2C500+BTU+Kerosene+Heater.jsp?locale=en . I'll pick up a few more gallons in the coming weeks.

At least in a short duration power outage I'll be able to keep one room of the house at a semi comfortable temperature.

Good choice Twyst. Kerosene heaters are very efficient. Also you can store kerosene for 20 years or more.

Nice acquisition, as a suggestion try the TSC Store for your fuel, the kerosene is cheaper there than at Canadian Tire.
Plus Homehardware is having sales in our area, check where you live. 😉

Thanks for the heads up MrandMsW, I'll definately check out the local TSC. Price seemed a bit high at CT which is why I mentioned picking up some more. I didn't want to buy more there without comparing prices and looking around. At least now I know to check out TSC and HH. 🙂

Regards,

Twyst.

If you can find a fuel supplier where you are you can probably buy Kerosene in bulk any quanity from 2 liters to 2000 liters all you need is your own container, i find it about half the cost of CT and TSC. Just a thought.

Not sure where I got it (Maybe the US?) but I have one of those plastic gas cans but it's blue and says Kerosene on the side (20L I believe). Not sure how long it would last in this container or if any fumes would leak out.

6 pints of green tomato relish...can't wait till it's aged a couple of weeks so I can get into it! May have enough for a second batch, I'll have to see what's left in the garden.

Small 1 led 1 AA flashlight, nice black coating metal body - will keep it in bedside table - can put crank torches etc in cupboards
5 Aussie military style can/botle openers w/spoon, and i got a P38 can opener as a freebie

Well the AA torch died so i now have a semi watertight small storage tube, used the lanyard on a "shudder" small Bear Grylls folding knife i bought.. i know i know. Replacing the torch with a few small solar keyring lights.

Here's a pic of the Aussie style can openers, yes folks they have bottle opener and spoon as well as the can cutter. Everything you need, open your beans, beer then eat the beans in one impliment 😀

After I win the lottery, I'm going to add a Chef, a house keeper, and a cute, very personal assistant to handle my private affairs. But I have a better chance of being caught unprepare by a massive CME. 😈
