i made my worm bin based on this guys design. . .

he has a follow up video less then a year later with some great results for worm casing/compost. . .

i got my bins from home depot, $4.50 on sale, two very ugly colours, but i use "good quality" bins for storage and didn't want to waste them on this project, so i bought for cheaper bins.
the 'tap' was $5-6 i had the caulk to seal it, and i got home and realized all my drill bites were at the other house (women get in your tools and they disappear. . . oh and i work with all women, so i'm allowed to use sayings that like, they give it back just as hard, so i've paid my dues 🙂 and i love women so i'm not really picking a fight)
anyways. . .i cut the hole for the tap with a razor, and i had a LONG wood drill bit for the holes. i did about 16 holes in them. and ordered some red worms from

of course digging your worms from the compost bin might be cheaper, i have too much "other" stuff to do, so i cheated.
i'm not sure if it was this video or another one i watched (very slow 12 hour shift at work the other night) but they said that worms loved juiced fruit puree, so NEXT year, they will be very happy. (15 apple trees, 7 pear, 3 cherry, 2 plum and some sandcherries, raspberries, black berries, goose berries. . .i'll be juicing some stuff) for now, they will have to live on a lot of fruit/veggie scrap.
should be making compost by wednesday or thursday next week 🙂
