Highs above the thirty degree mark and considerable moisture are still expected over southern and western regions of the province beginning on Wednesday. These conditions will persist until Friday. Moreover, lows will remain near 20 degrees during the night so there will be no respite from the heat.
Please note that the effects will be more pronounced in urban areas where temperatures will be a few degrees warmer during the day and also overnight.
High heat and humidity are the result of a combination of temperatures and humidity levels giving humidex values of 40. A heat wave is defined by at least three consecutive days with temperatures of 30 degrees or more.
These weather conditions could also cause a gradual deterioration of the air quality. Environment Canada is monitoring the situation and will issue the appropriate warnings in a timely manner for the concerned regions, as necessary.
Please refer to regional public forecasts for details pertaining to each region.
