Hi Fello Preppers
Just wanted to recommend to any of you that have not actually bugged out and spent a few days in a non powered bug out to do so. Then you will truely know what u are involved with and what u will truely need to servive.
I have done it many times and what a rush. Its scary, fun, exilerating, and it makes u think.
Our biggest weapen is our brain. And untill u actually have done it (bugged out ) I hate to say it but talk is cheap and watching programs and movies just doen t cut it.
just trying to help prepare you. After all thats what its all about isn't it.
Take care
Land Finder

It sounds like a fun family weekend to me - but I am sure we would utterly fail the first time! It takes me a few days to get ready for a camping trip 🙂

land finder, what part of the province you from? There are people that talk about prepping. And then there are those that do prepping. When you do prepping than you should know what you need. Live out of your bob to test yourself and your kit for a weekend. Myself I always went out in the past . I would pack up my pack and unpack it each time. I got tired of that and we got full fledge bob's packed with what was used in the past trips.

Landfinder you are correct in what you say, we must practice what we preach. Many of us have done just that. I haven't done a practice bug out into the bush of late but with what I have in my BOB now I would think I had died and gone to heaven. It would be more of a camping trip. Yes there are those who just talk about prepping but at least these have a plan. Everything starts with a plan and with intent. From there we move on. People prep to different levels depending on circumstance, location and, of course, finances. Everyone who is a member of this site has taken the most important first step.

Not trying to be condescending just trying to help.

I was agreeing with you Land finder. Practice is very important, I would say essential. There are preppers of all kinds on this forum. It does not hurt to encourage everyone from time to time even if they are "couch preppers". As I said if you are on this site you have taken the first step.

Try a two week excursion around Algonquin park, and determine how good you are by the amount of "real" food you bring back. I did this in 74 before joining the military, you'd find out real fast what works and what wont.

You can't hunt game in a Provincial Park so this must have added considerably to the stress of the exercise.

Was protecting myself from the porcupine, and since I hate waste, I ate him, and what ever was slower than a throwing stick and fishing reel. Alot of wild edibles around the streams, veggie type I mean, and they went well with the fish and other edibles... 😳
