Snow, could we maybe set a tentative date to give people on the fence an extra nudge? Or is this something we can't even start to pursue until the commitment is there?
AlbertaPrepper I was deeply moved by your post and thank you for the kind words.
As previously posted this is the link for the price list http://providentliving.org/self-reliance/food-storage/home-storage-center-order-form?lang=eng
We will look into available dates and times

To those of you who are interested in going canning, kindly send me an email at: raincanada at telus dot net and let me know which days/times work for you and I'll do my best to accommodate everyone...Snow and I work full-time so it won't be during the week days...evenings and saturdays only...then I can make a list of those interested and then I can email you as soon as I have set up a date and time to meet at the cannery.
Thanks again 🙂

Hi Snow...
Quick question to clarify... we bring the food with us and use your canning setup? Or... it's all there and you show us how and we do the work, pay the price and bring it home? I'm still very foggy on what is happening here. Initially I thought it was a teaching seminar to show how to can only. For myself and possibly others... what exactly is going on here? 🙂

Sounds like a "come watch and learn... And buy what you want". Seems like a pretty good idea, especially for those preppers who just "don't have the time" to sit and can all day, but would like to learn, and want to store some food quickly.
See you all after.
To ScottyRE, and all:
You do not bring the food with you...Everything is there...Feel free to look at the price list...There is no outside food allowed in the cannery for fear of cross-contamination.
We'll meet at the cannery, once there we can give you a quick tour if you wish (10 minutes)...you will get a hard copy price list to fill out if you choose to buy some canned food...If you just want to show up and help us can, you have that option also...you don't even need to give your name if you don't want to...once you've filled out the price list form, we will go in the room where the canning takes place...you will put on a very "attractive" hair net, and there will be someone there to lead us the whole way and show us what to do...the canning process goes really fast depending on the amount of cans ordered and the amount of hands we have available...we will do everything from a to z...from canning to putting the labels on the cans, to taping up the boxes we'll take the cans home in, to writing our names on the boxes, to clean-up...It's very easy and not at all uncomfortable or frightening, we might even have a few laughs 🙂 ...I am willing to bet that you will leave the cannery feeling good about what you have accomplished for your food storage...I know that I always do...I have been cannery at that cannery for 34 years and I feel "at home" there and I hope you will too...
I hope to get an email from all of you saying that you are interested in canning with us.
I hope that answers your questions, if you have any other questions, please feel free...

Would this be an evening or weekend affair? If we only have a few hours, is that enough time? We would probably be interested but have odd hours.
thanks,
We are trying to set it up for a Saturday.....date and time to follow.

I have been to the one in Calgary twice (Not a member), you do not need to be a member, nor do you need to have a member with you, the cannery is open to the public by appointment, on both occasions I had missionaries help me out with the process and not once was there talk about having the "missionary talks"

For those that have shown interest it is arranged for Saturday Nov. 17 at 9.00 am.
We have to let the cannery know,in advance, what we would like to can. Please e-mail your order
to us at raincanada at telus dot net before November 10th.
If there are more people interested the order form can be found here

As you can see from previous posts and testimonies this is a great opportunity for new
and seasoned preppers who are serious about food storage.

My husband and I are very interested in doing this, he has very little time off for the last few months but hopefullly that will change soon, he should get 2 saturdays a month off and will have to get back to you regarding a December or January time if you are available then, or I suppose we could call them and set up an appointment as previously mentioned. Thank you so very much for posting this offer!
I'll be hunting in November but we may be able to make this date if we're lucky early. If not, we are very interested and may also look at a December date. thanks,
Hi Snow, just going through that list. Wow, I could use everything on there to the tune of $860.60 roughly by my count. lol. Excluding a few things at the very bottom there. Anyways... I wont be shelling out that dough just yet but possibly some. Once the sheet is filled in, where can I send it? Email or fax? Attention to... ??
Thanks

As said before this is just so that they have an idea of what and how much they need to prepare for. On the day you can still make changes or add if you wish.
