This is my first time on this forum.
I live in the Rural area surrounding Sherwood Park and just got into prepping.
I would be greatly interested in meeting up with local Edmonton and area people to be able to learn from others who have been doing this longer, and share where I can.
Glad to have you with us Skell1031. It looks like we are going to have enough interest in and around Edmonton to be a useful network for each other. We met with Quietman for lunch in Edmonton when he came shopping for supplies and it gave us (and hopefully him) a comfortable place to start building some trust and a network. Most of us are a little "shy" about sharing too much too soon, so what would make you comfortable?
My meeting with morningcoffee and wife was great. Since then I have had a chance to PM and chat on the phone with somw other great folks from this site. This weekend I get to meet a few more and then there is the meeting in Beiseker on July 21.
If you want to meet people, you have to say hello.
Hmmm, maybe I should rethink the quiet part...
I'm not all that skittish personally, but I understand that tendency in people given the nature of what prepping is for.
My first thoughts on the situation of getting people who are more hesitant to meet others would be.
#1. Wait until after the general Alberta meeting, that way people would have a chance to meet up there and some of the nervousness would be alleviated given that they may have met once already.
#2. Meet in one of the outlying areas (Sherwood Park, Spruce Grove Etc.) in a more casual and group setting, this would allow people to get a feel for a larger slice of the community as a whole as well as an opportunity to deflect or avoid any major personality conflicts that arise, which would be a lot more uncomfortable given a one on one setting.
Although My general opinion is we are all here for the same eventuality even if the reasons and rational behind them differ. So as Quiteman said the best option would be to simply meet those that you feel comfortable with on the forums, and network out from there inviting others to join as the network grows.
Just My 2 cents though, anyone else?
Hi, this post is to bring the topic back up to the top since there seems to be lots of interest in Edmonton, but found under a number of different post headings. We appear to have someone in West Edmonton "Dave", someone else who works out in West Edmonton Mall, Sherwood Park acreage. Anyone interested in a small coffee type meeting to get to know each other? Welcome to everyone new from the Edmonton area. Anyone else sitting on the fringes, welcome as well, we look forward to hearing from all those interested in an Edmonton network.

I am very interested in getting together, i would like to exchange ideas and thoughts
I am also interested in an informal coffee type meeting, either Edmonton or outskirts would work. Not sure how much I'd be comfortable sharing initially but I'd like to get a feel for some of the folks in my area and start a getting-to-know-you process.
How about anyone closer to RED Deer?
Dang why couldn't I have found this forum sooner. We just moved from Red Deer to Camrose. But if there is ever a meet and greet we are back often.
Great to see more new people joining in to the thread. I am looking forward to the meeting in Beiseker July 21 and would be more than happy to get in on a meeting for people in and around Edmonton, as I am planning a shopping trip this weekend coming.
Keep posting you new people so we can PM and arrange a coffee meeting.
Hmmm, maybe I should rethink the quiet part...
Antsy
Needs must when the devil drives.
Would anyone from the edmonton area be interested in a informal meeting in around the end of July?
We would be happiest with an informal meeting maybe over coffee or something like that to start the "getting to know you" process. I think we are all a little shy about sharing too much, too soon, so going slowly would make us more comfortable. Any preferences on locations?

I made the trip to Red Deer tonight and met Antsy, we have each made a new freind.
The weekend is coming and I'll be heading to Edmonton on Saturday.

Hmmm, maybe I should rethink the quiet part...
Hey all you Edmonton (and area) Preppers - "Hello". I am new to this forum and am excited to talk with anyone in or around Edmonton. I live in St. Albert and have been prepping for a few years now... not exactly militant about it - but the supplies are now finally making a dent in my storage spaces. If anyone is ever up for a coffee / pint sometime - first round is on me!
I'm in Edmonton as well. I attended the last meeting with the crew from the South in Beiseker and they are very well organized. Great people. I am very keen to meet with some local people. Why don't we set a date and a place for here in Edmonton?
How does September 8th at noon in Laurier Park (by the Zoo) sound?
