Time will tell if they work for me.

All I wanted them for is when the hydro goes out and I have a bator or two full of eggs. If I can run my homemade bators on them, sure would beat getting a fire going in the woodstove. Heating up jars of water and fire bricks to put in there to keep the eggs at temps. 🙂

Yup have a battery all ready for them.

Hydro seems to go out most when the bators are full, but hardly before that or not for as long. 😆
When I see a problem, I try to find a cure. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't...but I keep trying. I think they call that stubborn. 😉

Prom - Thanks for the tip on the Coleman solar panels at CT.
Went in and got 2.

They said sale only starts tomorrow (Feb1st). But they said I could get the 2 for the sale price, when I said how far I lived from there.

So got two panels and one ex large B&D oven ( roast chicken on the spit comin up soon ) for what I would have paid for one panel, if it wasn't on sale.

This was one time I didn't check the flyer on line and would have missed it.

you're welcome, I hope they will work well. I got one too.
It says on the flyer that it starts on the Jan 31st so they were wrong. I was actually in the store Wednesday to check on a bolt cutter on sale on the previous flyer and I receive the flyer a few days before so I also wanted to check the panel see, where it is , how big is it etc and to my surprise it was already priced for 100$.

I'm planning to use it to charge a MotoMaster Nautilus Battery Pack, 800 A while camping or fishing, no idea if it's gonna work or not. Will see how it goes. I don't see any use for one panel at home unless the power goes off but I wouldn't expect anything more than just charging a phone, a radio or some AA baterries.

All the best

That's what I was planning on using them for as well; charging small gadgets/lights/batteries, especially if it fits with camping stuff.

We should have this as an agenda meeting at our next s.AB get together.
I was hoping it was as simple as charging a deep-cell battery and then drawing from that battery with a converter? I know little of the dark arts though and could be very wrong!

It's a good topic but let's not highjack the thread. There are a few threads in alternative energy section, like this one:

I don't know if all Canadian Tire stores are carrying them now, but the one in Cold Lake now sells SKS's for $200. They are the Chinese model and have the bayonet with them. Not an outstanding weapon, but they are definitely a great deterrent and you can get large quantities of ammo cheap.

Online retailers have much better SKS deals. Marstar has a package where you buy 1440 rounds of ammo for $285. Pay an extra $75 and get the SKS. Do your research first, not all SKS's are created equal.

Just a quick pointer to have a look at Kijiji Calgary if you are looking for a Yukon Stove. I have no idea who the seller is but a complete stove is $50. The pic's show the stove is rusty and needs some attention but the price is good.

Here is the id code:

Walmart has their Remington hunting clothing line on sale. Unfortunately most of the stuff left is larger sizes. Pants are 20$. The 4 in system jacket is 60$ from 100. Selection depends on the store.

CT have all their solar equipment on sale (liquidation). Before you buy a product check the price for the same item at one of the other stores like Home Depot. You might find CTs 705 sale is more like a 15% sale.

CT also has a few of the better Gerber knives on sale. They are a little cheaper than online.

The marstar SKS's I hear are junk. Why else would they be pretty much giving them away.

No idea of your sources but you are completely wrong. Opinion with no actual experience is only rumour means nothing. I know from personal experience they are well made, well fitted and functional. Why would you pay more for the same thing elsewhere?
