I own one. brand new, never fired mil-spec quality. ive never had an issue with either of the firearms ive ordered from them (including the sks). They come dis-assembled, still coated in the original cosmoline they were stored in by mother russia, matching serial numbers. When mine was delivered it was well packaged and completley undamaged, and has yet to misfire or jam with over 1000 rounds through it.

If you take the time to learn how to assemble/disassemble and perform simple maintenence on the sks (youtube is actually a great resource for how too videos) you should not have any issues with them at all. I keep it clean and oiled, and am more then satisfied with the product.

oh, and they can afford to give them away because they literally have hundreds of them in stock that they purchased in mass at a huge discount. Their buying power turns into discounts for their customers. Coupled with the ammunition deal they make money no matter how they slice it, and we still get a discount, so everybody wins. If you buy one of the sks WITHOUT the ammo, their prices is relative to whatever the current market price for a type 56 chinese sks is. They are currently selling them at $189, or at $199 with a single hard locking rifle case. http://www.marstar.ca/dynamic/category.jsp?catid=80102

See you all after.

I bought the SKS/ammo deal from Marstar twice. I also have one from Open Season in Westlock and one from Milarm. The Marstar SKS's were in phenomenal shape and I would buy from them again in a heartbeat.

I have a pretty good source. I take it you own Marstar..lol

I have no personal interest in Marstar whatsoever. Perhaps you could name your pretty good source (yourself/friend/intenet opinion) and the reason for dissatisfaction. One person having a bad experience does not make a bad product.

I might pick one up 'just because' $18 is a pretty cheap price to pay for hot food when the grid is down or you can't go home in your vehicle. While probably made in China (I really don't know) I would think that even a couple of hot meals on cold days powered by your car would make this item worth it. At 3.7 lbs it won't have your back bumper dragging on the street either. I'm sure I can find space for this item in the jockey box of my truck.

Just my thoughts,

MARSTAR's SKSs are Chinese military war stock. These rifles are being sold from the war stock as the AK 47 is the rifle of choice. These are made off the same machinery as the Russian SKS (the Russians sold them the equipment). They are excellent quality and are brand new unissued rifles built in the 50s.

Simply because it runs off of a cigarette lighter socket rest assured it isn't 'Ye Olde Pizza Oven'. All the same on a cold day a hot or even warm meal would be better than a cold meal, right?

Edited for lazy proof reading.

I was at Calgary Wholesale sports today and they have an ice-fishing sled for sale... $50 normally $250!!

It is the style with a lid and several small hatches that allow access into the interior. We were looking at it and are pretty sure we can mount a piano hinge to one edge as there is alot of plastic flange to work with. I'm going back tomorrow to pick up at least one. They are not advertising it on their website from what I can see as I tried to find an image. They have many boxes on the floor so I think they miscalculated an order?

costco.ca has reduced the price online for the 6 package of Thrive dehydrated vegetables (1 can each of carrots, potatoes, peas, corn, onion, broccoli). They are back down to 96.99 for the 6 package delivered free. That is just over $16 per can. The potatoes can be purchased elsewhere for a few cents less per can, but the other vegetables are a decent savings especially when they are delivered to your door. All in all, pretty good pricing.

Kokuho Rice is on sale this week at Superstore (in Western Canada--don't know about East) for 17.78/10 kg. That is $.80/lb. As well, Safeway has sugar for 8.99/10 kg. Happy shopping!

Rancho Vignola is having a spring clearance sale. They sell bulk nuts, seeds, dried fruits, and some other stuff, both organic and non organic. Some of the deals look pretty decent. I haven't bought from them before, but my friend and his wife go to their sale in Airdrie every fall and stock up.
