Yah if you have access to that kind of storage that's awsome. Are you able to use welded tins or is the system you have only able to use friction seals?
We us there folks oot in the Pohdunk doint git to dah big satty much. 😉
I can with glass jars when possible and the buildings the stores are in are ones that those big Alberta rats 😕 can't get in. :geek:
Back onto the subject of mylar bags, I took a couple Old Dutch potatoe chip bags and cut the end off with scissors then put then through the vacuum sealer and it worked. Sucked, sealed and sent to the pantry. I'll keep an eye on them. Next ones I'll try other dry food in one or two. Hmmm All Dressed or Dill Pickle ? 😎

Whoah, new language I guess..lol
.
On the subject of Mylar bags, does anyone know if Mylar can act as a faraday cage? Is there sufficient metal in the plastic to accomplish this?
Rob
The LDS order form updated Feb 2014 no longer has the mylar bags listed for sale.
I got mine on amazon 10 - 5 gallon bags and 10- 2000cc oxygen absorbers for $42 bucks w/ free shipping. It was the best deal that I could find, although if you buy in bulk you can save..but i don't need more than 10 right now.
I have seen some " mylar + O2 absorbers " kits that look nice as you get just enough O2 to match the # of bags.

They will quote a price for shipping to Canada.
Blackraven, do you remember the vendor you used at Amazon ?
There is a new company in Manitoba that has competitive pricing on mylar and o2 absorbers. He sells some other stuff too:
He's a pretty level headed guy and sells a lot of good stuff like berkey water filters, mylar bags, etc.

I really like these type of package deals so you get matching # of O2 absorbers and get the small job done.

He does not list the mil thickness of the mylar , nor the CC count of the O2 absorbers. That info should be right there
or many people won't bother asking , and just go to another site, he is losing sales.
Goldie, thank you for pointing that out. I should not have missed that, but I did 😕
thecrownsown thank you for the shout out. Although I have a previous membership in this forum under the moniker 'thessalonian' I have been absent from most groups while working on the Web store and my full time truck driving job.
I hope to build supply and stock to be able to help as much as I can. Any advice and help and item ideas would be very much appreciated.
God bless.
