Has anyone tried the electrical deterrent plug-in-a-jiggy thing?
I've had one plugged in for years and still have mice.
I've caught 7 in my basement in the last week in the same area. I keep re-setting the traps: jam a sunflower seed in the hole in the bait area, add peanut butter, sprinkle a few more sunflower seeds for good measure. Works every time - they can't simply lick off the peanut butter and walk away. When they jerk the trap to get the sunflower seed, it goes off and it's curtains for them. I put the traps in a cardboard box cut down to 3 inches or so just in case the mice don't die instantly - it's a real hassle to track down a mousetrap that's walked away.
I have a cat that sometimes wounds a mouse and leaves it for me to find but I think he believes they are his personal play toys 😉
Our youngest cat brings them in and lets them go in the house, so she can chase them. I also have traps everywhere, baited with peanut butter and a raisin. They really go for the raisin. I plugged the one spot where they used to come into the kitchen with part of an SOS pad. Seems they don't like the soap, so leave it alone. This worked for us, now if I can teach Patch to leave her "animated toys" outside!!! Still working on that one.
Some of the electronic thing-a-jiggy's are ultasonic. With DH's acute haring, the thing just about drove him mad! Seemed to work on the mice, but not on him!
