Avoiding any political bias don't you think the name Trudeau is well, just so Canadian? It's like hockey, it gives you a warm feeling and almost every Canadian can relate to it.
Kind of like that warm feeling you get after too much fiber! Then yes, Trudeau gives me the exact same feeling. 🙂
😉 😆 😆
His father appealed to the Baby Boomers.... we are still here and the son won't have the same draw.
You are right JAB...
What made PET so popular was his charisma...the canoe thing, pirouette behind the Queen's back, and let's not forget my favorite quote being an anglophone Quebeker) "Just watch me"
I don't think Justin has as much charm in his whole body that his father had in his little finger!
Not to get into a huge political debate...but what exactly do you hate that much about the Conservatives? Just really curious.
I really don't understand the hate people have for the Conservatives. I just pin it down to Ideology (I know that's not a real word.) People like to say that the NDP and Liberal's are the only ones who are "for the people" but can't provide any proof except for that they said it once in a speech. I vote for whoever makes the most common sense, it is not good to be ideological about a party whether it's love or hate. You might miss out on an actual rare good politician.
Dogma. Used by religion and political parties alike. A concept of "belief" as opposed to fact and logic. Indoctrination and propaganda with a dash of fear. People are taught a few lines and many spend the rest of their lives reacting to events and "information" from both sides. Loyalty is a falacy or should be. Loyalty ONLY rewards those at the top of the scheme. It gives nothing to the common man yet millions "believe" in the party... any party... and what it stands for. Critical thinking, hard questions and the search for real answers is avoided by most. Even once elected to "Honorable" members for the vast majority have to toe the party line. They are not allowed to carry forward to wishes of their constituents and if they should do so they risk censure and even expultion. Contrary to popular belief we do NOT live in a Democracy. We simply have rotating Dictators that we choose. If only people took the time to really examine and think about what is on the table.
As an Albertan, one would think that we are all conservatives. Ideologically, my politics run pretty close with a healthy dose of libertarianism however I haven't voted conservative in the last three elections. I moved into Rob Anders' riding you see and would love for a liberal candidate to win over Anders even were it to topple the entire party.
Needs must when the devil drives.
At the risk of hijacking the thread, here is a quote I found a long time ago:
If a conservative doesn't like guns, he doesn't buy one.
If a liberal doesn't like guns, he wants all guns outlawed.
If a conservative is a vegetarian, he doesn't eat meat.
If a liberal is a vegetarian, he wants all meat products banned for everyone.
If a conservative sees a foreign threat, he thinks about how to defeat his enemy.
A liberal wonders how to surrender gracefully and still look good.
If a conservative is homosexual, he quietly leads his life.
If a liberal is homosexual, he demands legislated respect.
If a black man or Hispanic are conservative, they see themselves as independently successful.
Their liberal counterparts see themselves as victims in need of government protection.
If a conservative is down-and-out, he thinks about how to better his situation.
A liberal wonders who is going to take care of him.
If a conservative doesn't like a talk show host, he switches channels..
Liberals demand that those they don’t like be shut down.
If a conservative is a non-believer, he doesn't go to church.
A liberal non-believer wants any mention of God and religion silenced. (Unless it’s a foreign religion, of course!)
If a conservative decides he needs health care, he goes about shopping for it, or may choose a job that provides it.
A liberal demands that the rest of us pay for his.
If a conservative slips and falls in a store, he gets up, laughs and is embarrassed.
If a liberal slips and falls, he grabs his neck, moans like he's in labor and then sues.
If a conservative reads this, he'll forward it so his friends can have a good laugh.
A liberal will delete it because he's "offended”.
The sum of the intelligence on the planet is a constant; the population is growing.
The above opinions were expressed with the arrogance that only a real "Conservative" can embody.
Whatever makes you happy (aka - feel superior).
Here's a good joke back at you:
"Although it is not true that all conservatives are stupid, it is true that most stupid people are conservative."
all jokes aside humorous or not theyre all the same doesnt matter what party theyre from.........im actually surprised the liberal party is still floating id a thought that ship would have sank long ago.
OK folks,
I wondered if this thread would turn into political mudslinging...Damn I hate being right sometimes.
As this is deteriorating rapidly, time to shut it down!
