So what constitutes have your gun secure? I always thought a trigger lock was fine, and the ammo kept separately. I've traveled like that, had it inspected by MNR Conservation Authority and OPP and everything was copacetic....

What if a gun had a trigger lock and was mounted on the wall...or in a glass showcase, or if the firing pin had been removed in the same instance without a trigger lock.....I've seen some really beautiful firearms out there mounted on display in a china cabinet or similar display case. I didn't think securing a gun meant it had to be out of site....

Here is the link to the RCMP webpage concerning storage laws. They are not black and white. The vagueness is helpful when officers need to lay charges or seize them. Oh your guns were stolen. Hmm must not have been securely stored. Hmm shot an intruder, you must not have had your gun securely stored. Unsafe storage is a nice catchall charge they pile on.
