I haven't tried it but I thought it looked interesting.
Its a mathematical model showing the spread of a virus and it gives you a few variables. Kind of "nifty." 🙂 Its based off of US census data, and modeled similar to how other infection diseases would spread. Its missing a significant number of important variables ...but fun to play with for sure!
Nice find oldschool.

Yeah pretty funny model oldschool. Thanks !
One of the things that I noticed when playing around with it is that "something" spreads across the country faster if it started in a rural area. I take that to mean people in the city normally stay around that one area but people in rural areas need to travel more for the things that they need. I would have thought it would have been the other way around.
I agree with this observation. It spread very slow from major population areas and spread out from them not from simultaneous areas as you would expect with air travel. I started in Chicago and it spread out from Chicago only via road and with no taking air travel into account. Fun though still :).

Try starting in New York or Los Angeles where the populations are generally richer. It seems to spread faster. Perhaps because of more cars/planes, etc. as poorer areas are more dependant on public transit or simply dont move around as much?

Hi Old School.
I was around when SARS hit Toronto Area. 1 person infected at least 500. On the outside perhaps as many as 700. That was only ONE person. Yikes...
I saw streets, malls and shopping empty. Airport was closed down too. It was terrifying and very serious. That is when mandatory hand sanitation became permanent at hospitals. I think it would be great to have this everywhere, especially school. One kid to infect hundreds of families, that would thousands of workplaces and that is the beginning of the end.
Great post!!!
A number of years ago, there was a school in Toronto (I think) that had hand sanitation lotion available to the students. The stuff kept vanishing, by the bottle. The students were using it to start fires, as well as drink, yuk, the stuff, as it was alcohol based. The stuff was pulled from the schools! It is really too bad that a few bad "apples" have to steal something that is there for the greater good of the students. I didn't ever hear what the final outcome was, weather the sanitizer was put back, or not.
Just my 2 cents.
I always liked zombie. I was reading the link you provided and its looks really interesting.
