I have found this site for pin on buttons. A 1" pin is quite cheap ($150.00 for 500).
I looked at other types of lapel pins and found them to be quite expensive ($750.00+ for 200).
Is there anyone here that has a talent for Photoshop that could take our logo and set it up?
I have a template to follow.
http://www.pinscity.com/custom_pins.htm

As far as fundraising goes, I can handle the cash, but as this is a small project, I really don't want to open a trust account and deal with lawyers and all that...just gets too expensive, so you will all have to agree to trust me.

I think about $250.00 should cover the pins, taxes and some shipping costs.
I figure that I can pick them up in Montreal and send out a few packages to local group leaders for distribution to members.

Keep in mind that you MUST be a member of the Canadian group to be a part of this! So if you know anyone who would be interested but is not a member, let them know to go to their user control panel and join the Canadian Preppers group!

What exactly did you want on the pin?? A replica of the Canadian Preppers logo?? If you can get an original file the quality would be much better than copying it from the website. If you want something different I can help - just let me know.

I think it's a great idea. Maybe we could charge $1.00 per button and start a fund for other projects?

I will try to get the original art from North Idaho Prepper.
Not sure about the $1.00 charge though, that would probably require a bank account and a paypal account...I'll look into it.

There are some considerations around the unit cost and delivery charges and HST. Do you have a business that you could run this project through? It is not a big deal but we must make sure we do it legally and comply with tax laws. After all we will be "advertising" this on the Internet, be it all to a small select group. Personally I would prefer a lapel pin approach as it is a little less visible and can be used for identification without having the question posed "What is that?".

I just had an idea. What if we used an existing pin. Something like the World Peace pin. Available at 79 cents for orders of 250. This is an innocuous pin and not many people wear them. It could be really good for us as an identifier. You could wear it with pride and if someone asks what it is you could state" It's for world peace". A noble cause and ordinary people would be quite satisfied with that.

However a fellow prepper could follow up on the first question with another like
"Is that all it represents?"
Wearer "It might have another meaning"
Fellow prepper" prepping"
As short conversation and both parties are sure that they are addressing a fellow preppers. The public would be none the wiser and quite happy.

What do you think of this approach? Cheap too at under $1.

Could avoid the whole tax thing and go by donations (email money transfer) and the pin would be a gift for the donation. Im sure if the pin is small enough you could fit it into an envelope and mail it. Just an idea. I definately like the idea of being able to identify each other.

No it is still "on the go" I think Oldschool has some ideas that we might try out at the Provincial Meet in July.

Well there is one thought that I had, which is use one that is already made, Like the one from Harry Potter, (Deathly Hollows). But ours would be of a different meaning, The triangle, the cloak of flight (or to flee). The circle within the triangle, To represent the Preppers as a group or circle of friends. Finally, the line within the circle, the staff of travel and protection.
Now this could also be made with the circle on the outside with the triangle within, but why re-invent a wheel.

Just another thought on this with the same symbol just rearranged slightly. A circle with a triangle within and a vertical line through the middle of triangle bisecting the circle. Here is the meaning of such symbols, (if I repeat myself, so sorry), The Circle, A group of friends, the circle stones of a family hearth. The Triangle, Shelter, be it a building, a tent or a cloak. The Vertical Line, A Staff of traveling, protection, and support. This can be made in any metal, plastic, or even some wire twisted together. Just a simple design that could be recognized for what it is or just a piece of decoration.

Can I put my two cents in??
I like our logo BUT for privacy (I don't want EVERYONE to know I prep but it is ok for other preppers to know) can we leave out the Canadian Preppers Network and just have CPN ?
Let me know when they become available.

The problem is that there are so many forums, facebok groups, etc, that we would all have to coordinate to something.
I had tossed around the idea of a CPN pin, but then, what about members who leave the forum?
There seems to be a growing interest in a prepper badge...a triangle within a circle that is gaining in popularity.
Maybe this might be the way to go.
The problem is, whatever group is inadvertantly left out of the process, may object...
just a couple of thoughts.

Yes the Triangle in the circle is the main one that I have seen.

If I'm understanding the draft symbol being proposed, a triangle within a circle it is already in use. I wouldn't say its common place, but it certainly isn't obscure either. I don't believe the symbol is trademarked (something that may be worth discussion) but you could end up with people inadvertently thinking you belong to a few other groups or organizations or societies...
